Forums - Gaming Discussion - I am devastated (again)

So I was playing GTA 3 and intended on platinuming it just like I did with gta v. Today I finished off the stunt jumps which was the last thing I needed. No trophy. Turns out I've only got 95% because some missions in the game are skipable if you progress too far with other missions.

So I'm never going to platinum this. Took too long to get here to restart it again.. Too much grind. I'm absolutely sick.

GTA 4 also screwed me over because the random people encounters glitched out stopping me from getting 100% too.

GTA V also tried to fuck me over with the taxi missions and a Tonya mission bugging out but I persisted and after a few months of trying I managed to get them.

So I'll only have 1 platinum for the series when I should have 3. This one particularly hurt because if I'd researched it before I started it could have been avoided. Rockstar have a habit of fucking people over for platinums.

Better luck with GTAVI.

Deus Ex (2000) - a game that pushes the boundaries of what the video game medium is capable of to a degree unmatched to this very day.

This is why I always search for information if I care about trophies. Lists of missable trophies for games are easy to find.

That's how they get so many people to double-dip on their games. People are more motivated for platinums when they can make-believe that they bought a new game.

Negatron.

This was the first time I ever bought the game. On the ps2 a friend gave me it and now on the ps4 I bought this without knowing it even had trophies. I knew san andreas had them but wasn't aware gta3 or vice city did. Pleasant surprise.

heh, yeah I checked that before starting for the platinum. Gotta make sure there's no missable trophies!

When will I ever learn. Can't believe I started up the game without checking first.

Wow... That sounds infuriating!

That's why you shouldn't care about trophies or whatever... the satisfaction from playing, or potentially completing a game should come from you know, playing or potentially completing the game, not the system telling you you got a platinum trophy and giving you a pat in the back.

Seriously never understood the appeal of universal achievements. But, to each their own I guess.

This makes no sense because I also get great satisfaction from getting 100% in the game not including the trophies and now I'm forever stuck on 95%.

The platinums are basically just keeping a record of what games you have completed to 100% at least in the case of gta.

.... I still don't even understand how trophies work I completely ignore them.

If you don't care about anything you'll never be disappointed! Nothing wrong with setting a goal and finding satisfaction in reaching that goal. At least when it's a meaningless goal you'll get over it a lot sooner than if it was something worth while.

It's no different from reaching the end credits of a game, beating a boss, or playing on anything above the easiest difficulty. It's all meaningless, it's a game.

Lasting until you're the last one standing in PUBG is meaningless, yet already 30 million people think it's fun to try and probably care about doing well in the game.

@op Better luck next time, those 99% completed games can be annoying.
