Power brick failure most likely.

Nah. I have two and both work. One almost never turned off for over a year.

Still got my day one edition. It's going strong!

I have an Xbox One S. Bought by brother a near-launch Xbox One though and its not given him any issues.

I've just heard from the guy with the turned off and not coming back problem and it looks like the power brick, bricked. He's getting a new power brick.

Apologies for the false alarm. Nothing to see here...

What happens if the power supply in the new X1X or PS4 dies? Can they just replace the internal power-supply?

Probably not as big of an issue with internal power bricks as their not exposed to as much dust. I have to remember to clean mine out every so often.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

My uncle's broke a while ago, it all of a sudden stopped reading discs.

My Xbox One runs fine. It's wasn't a launch unit though. I got mine Christmas 2015.

Discs? What are these discs you speak of?

I don't have a launch X1, but my power brick died a little after 2 years.
MIght be a future issue with X1Xs but Xbox was often mocked for having an external power brick. That's the cost of having them internally now.

Are you talking about Xbox One X or original Xbox One consoles?
