3 hours for demanding titles on a $300 device at a gen 7.5ish level is excellent. Literally no one argues that 540p is what we desired, but it's still fine for a game as intense as doom.

This is a pretty cheap way to put down people's arguments without actually confronting them. There will always be people in a fandom that will switch their narratives to win against the other side, hardly a thing exclusive to Nintendo fans.

I already gave my theory. Schrodinger's console: the switch is both and neither a home console or handheld, depending on the narrative. This goes for both ways.

Depends on what you're gonna use it for. I wouldn't recommend the system to anyone who's never gonna take it out of the dock (basically just turning it into a Wii U), and I'd only recommend it to handheld users if the massive jump in graphics is enough to get them to upgrade from the 3ds, since the price is much higher. As someone who uses both, it was an easy sell for me. Even if a game runs only okay-ish in docked mode, having the same save files for both modes is a huge plus for me. Trying to convince people that only use 1 mode that it's worth their money is gonna be difficult at best.

Thank you for saying this. I was trying to put into words on how to say this but you hit the nail on the head.  The OP is just stereotyping a bunch of Nintendo fans.

I've had a Switch for less than 2 weeks but I use it as a home and portable console. Odyssey and Zelda purely on the TV, Stardew Valley and Sonic Mania purely in portable mode, Mario Kart 8 DX and Splatoon 2 both ways. It's a versatile device and can be brilliant both ways.

Gnn. You have always to consider it as a home console and a handheld. The battery life is actually the same to 3DS and Vita, it only looks bad in comparison to the DS or the GB. As for Doom, well, the resolution is surely worse than on other console. But people play it on PS4, if they could have better graphics and resolution on PC. I think many people are too hung up on numbers. The drop in framerate is in my opinion the bigger issue. But on the other hand - the demon smashing hasn't to stop, only because I have to commute. You have to decide for yourself which is more important: some pixels or more opportunities to play. And to the sales - let's first wait and see how the sales turn out long term. So far it is pretty good. And by the way: PS2 sold like a handheld.
