Yep! Who doesn't want the most powerful console!

Uh..like >90% of all people, I mean those who are not rabid console fanatics?

Yet this is the first gen where the most powerful console sold more than the others... And now that PS4Pro and X1X came out we can even rule out this gen.

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

uk seams to have about the same stock issues as the US. Sold out at some/most retailers but not all. Should be able to hit 300k launch week in America then.... around 500k npd?

Halo MCC will sell 5+ million copies(including digital)

halo 5 will sell 10 million copies(including digital)

x1 will pass ps4 in USA, and UK.

IMHO PS4P really din't have much at launch to justify the upgrade, X is quite a lot more powerful than the original and has better launch so that definitely helped.

PS4 ----------- 250,000 --- 2 days
Xbox One ------ 150,000 --- 2 days
Switch -------- 80,000 ---- 2 days
Xbox One X ---- 80,000 ---- 5 days
PS4 Pro ------- 50,000 ---- 3 days
* hardware figures are up-weighted 20%
** stock shortages of both PS4 Pro and Switch will have impacted the performance of those machines

So launch is comparable to all that launched on the last 12 months or so.

Not really. Took ps4pro a month to do 80k... but pro did have worse supply constraints tho.

Congrats to MSoft for the successful launch of the X.

Having said that, the fact that a $500 console sells well makes me worry a little bit. We shouldn't give companies that $500 consoles are ok, or we might get PS5/X2 in that price range.

Please excuse my bad English.

Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

Really great but I think it'll be frontloaded

Maybe I missed something, but I wonder what was the total number of Xbox One and X sold for that week when compared to PS4 and Pro sales the week of the Pro's launch.

There's this thing called inflation man. A 400$ console in 2006 is the same as a 500$ console in 2017. Just like when people complain about  micro transactions and paid dlc in games. A new game has been 60$ for how long? 20 years? 30?. It should be 85 or 90.

I'm expecting around 400-500k on NPD. MS has been lobbying for this console too hard not to make some kind of decent showing. Xbox sales have been waning lower than normal recently this year, and the wait for this thing is part of the reason.

Mmmmm... yes and no.  Both the original Xbox One and the Xbox One X were priced at $500 at launch.  It's a no brainer to buy an X over the original.  And because a new game has been $60 for so long now actually works against your point.
