It doesn't support HDR which is a bigger deal than those few extra pixels in a cartoony game.

Wasn't it confirmed that in Photo Mode the game runs at 1080p 30fps ? I think they're referring to that

I doubt many will be seriously disappointed if it's 900p. Switch gamers seemed to enjoy Breath of the Wild and Mario + Rabbids in 900p just fine.

That said, I for one would be quite surprised if the final game is 900p; dynamic res is Nintendo's MO for the more demanding games on Switch, and I expect that to be the standard going forwards.
