Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Rumor: Super Mario Odyssey’s highest resolution is 1080p in TV mode

Maybe the game uses Dynamic Resolution? So.. next week DigitalFoundry will probably tell us.

When Digital Foundry last analyzed Super Mario Odyssey, the outlet found that the game runs at 900p when Switch is docked. New information coming from a Nintendo customer support representative may indicate that it could go even higher.

The report comes from one of Nintendotoday users, Gold Luigi, who contacted Nintendo and got the following reply:

“On handheld mode, the highest resolution will be 720p, while in TV mode, the highest resolution will be 1080p.”

The wording could indicate that 1080p is the maximum resolution, with perhaps a dynamic resolution that scales from 900p to 1080p.

Customer support doesn't know jack shit about important behind the scenes information in any company. Not sure why anyone would believe that.

Yeah, I've predicted for some time the final game will use a dynamic resolution that tops out at 1080p, much like Splatoon 2.

Don't they mean upscaled though? If not, that's gonna be great.

People like to believe in positive rumors...and then get disappointed if they turn out to be false.

Lol

Are we really talking about resolution for a Mario game?

A Mario game?

Look at the game.... stop looking at framecounters and resolution meters, we've actually come up with a phrase here when talking about fps in games.... think that some people refer to it as Fun Per Second... if it's too low they aren't having fun in their games.

Anyways, go on itunes, buy Jump Up, Super Star, then sit and listen to it on loop until this game drops next week.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

when did Nintendo gamers care about resolution?

honestly this is just so sad someone would email customer support who have no fricken clue about anything anf get their hopes up.

Wasn't it showcased that when you do photo mode it bumps up some graphical settings? or is this about the actual gameplay?

Woaoahoahaohwowahoaoha

First of all, don't put Framerate together with resolution

Second of all, itunes is for plebs

It wouldn't even be an issue except all the same users who say resolution doesn't matter or that Nintendo games look good despite not being graphically impressive are the same people who eat this shit up

If you're consistent about it then idk.
