If the mother of the fallen soldier finds it disrespectful, then it is.

"Representative Frederica Wilson, a Florida Democrat, was with widow Myeshia Johnson when Trump called. “She was crying the whole time, and when she hung up the phone, she looked at me and said, ‘He didn’t even remember his name.’ That’s the hurting part,” Wilson told MSNBC.

... But Johnson’s mother Cowanda Jones-Johnson, who was also in the car, told The Washington Post, “President Trump did disrespect my son and my daughter and also me and my husband.” She declined to elaborate but told the Post that Wilson’s account was accurate."

It's probably more to do with how he said it. What I get from this is that she was upset because he didn't even remember the soldiers name. However if she is upset about someone saying I'm sure your son has no Regrets as hew knew what he was doing and did it for his country then she is just being closed minded and venting.

With that being said grief can make people a little sensitive so maybe she reacted how she normally wouldn't

I will concede that it was probably not his intention in this situation to disrespect. However, I do think he owes it to her to at least acknowledge his mistake. I would respect him more if he would own up to mistakes he makes.

LOL, now, all of sudden, leftists are worried about soldiers. We kinda needed you guys in Benghazi.

There many soldiers who in fact have mostly left leaning political views. My dad is one of them.

Don’t forget half the population of America hates him. And 90% of the news as well. He has shown great respect for the military as well. He says he has proof. Might as well wait for more evidence than getting our panties in knots.

has that ever born out? He's made claims of evidence to prove himself several times without producing anything. Seems like at some point him claiming evidence should be worthless and ignored.

Trump: "He knew what he signed up for."

Here's the anthem whining president disrespecting a fallen soldier.

Source: https://www.local10.com/news/politics/trump-speaks-to-widow-of-sgt-la-david-johnson

Trump told U.S. Army Sgt. La David Johnson's widow Tuesday that "he knew what he signed up for ... but when it happens, it hurts anyway,"

Wonder if there's an actual recording of what Trump said. I'm no fan of hearsay.

I see nothing wrong with his statement. That's like someone in boxing getting hit too hard becomes blind in one eye and then people complain because someone pointed out that the half blind boxer understood the risks when he decided to become a boxer.

Ah yes... Call the wife of a newly deceased soldier only to tell her "He knew what he signed up for... but I guess it hurts anyway"

Everyone is aware that there are risks with being a soldier on active duty, but what kind of person says something like that to a newly widowed woman? "He knew what he signed up for"? Might as well have said "He had it coming"...

To be fair, I can't be sure of exactly what Donald Trump said, and I think (hope) he didn't mean it in such a way. I just think Donald Trump has shown severe signs of a lack of empathy, which can be either a personality trait or a condition, and this is another thing pointing in that direction. But either way, it is unfathomable to me how someone that did not realize that those words were really stupid in that situation managed to become president.

The greatest fallacy in American history is that conservatives are the only people who cares about the armed forces.

"They knew what was coming their way, living in Puerto Rico. Horrible place, the Carribean. And the hurricanes. My god, would you believe the hurricanes? Horrible. Those people - I tell you, those people - they knew it would happen. And they stayed!"

Talking like Trump is surprisingly easy.

XD it is. But yeah, like I don't get why he mentioned their financial issues when they got hit.

It'd be like, "Hey, I'm sorry your mom died yesterday. But remember when I lent you $10 a month ago? I kinda want that back."

Kind of. I read the chance to die if you get sent to a combat zone is like 1 in 5000, so at the same time, you kind of don't expect to die although it's always possible.
