Asking if I was "still butthurt" isn't pointing out hypocricy, so yeah you can get over yourself.

That revealed barebones story is also very tropish. Boy find legendary item/person (this time both) and has to escort said person to a legendary place. Insert "It's our dream" a lot.

Voice acting is terrible though, and not in a nitpicking kind of way. It's actually very bad. Did you hear some of those accents? Lol

Like, here is an example of just some bad freaking voice acting

we can all agree this is bad without any nitpicking, so is this games voice acting. It is bad.

Your top 10 games can be whatever they want, but the graphics of this game still look very dated, and not because it's anime, because they look dated.

Like this low rez shot

You were just the one I quoted. Lots of people complaining about the spotlight. If you noticed I said 'you guys" meaning more than just you. I was generalizing the reaction that this game has received every time it is given a new trailer. If a story trailer is shown off, complaining about wanting environments. If environments are shown off, complaining about something else. Never happy.

The accents are fitting in line with the british accents of teh first game, which was highly loved as I said to a cultish almost level.

But again my point is still the same. They coudl be the same voice actors of The last of us and people would still bitch because its a japanese game with english voice acting. For some reason they are ALWAYS ALWAYS complained about when first shown. There is always dual audio begging, ect. NEVER do i hear any VA bitching for western games. But its 100% with japanese games. Not watching youtube clip, but one example doesn't refute my point.

I don't bother arguing about graphics in games.

The accents however are not delivered as well as in the first game. I loved the British accents as well, and think they are fitting for Xenoblade 2, but listen to some Xenoblade voice acting then this. There just seems to be this veil of amatuerism lying over this project that's kind of unusual and is kind of off putting compared to really all of there previous works. I mean, Xenosaga Episode 2 is notorious for its bad voice acting, but it gets recognized,

I'm just saying do the same here. Recognize the dialogue here is not delivered very well in some cases.

Essemtially, it's a lot of small flaws in really every aspect of this game (as well as one of my personal pet peeves in collecting monsters, never been a huge fan).

Again can't watch videos as at work, but as with most all game of this nature i try and not judge voice acting on trailers alone. The games are like 100 hours, and i'm supposed to judge on a sample size of .001% of the voice acting? Not to mention a lot of the time its a voice over and thus not matched with the lips on screen.

Take Zelda recently. She gets a huge flack for shitty va, but i thought she did great. Sure in the trailers and if you get none of the memories, her voice may seem weird. But her way of speaking and english accent really fit the character perfectly imo when you see all of her memories. It really fits this royalty that has been meant for something great her whole life, yet could never achieve it and was always dissapointing others in her mind. Wanting to do things that were meant for others, such as the shrines, ect. Knowing everything about her, the voice was perfectly done.

I think its a matter of perception that Japanese games get this bad rap. It's like in real life, you see a 6'6" lumbering dude, you expect him to have a certain voice. When he doesn't, its shocking and weird. When people see a japanese game, they subconsciously hear japanese accents in their head and when something else comes out they can't help but find it jarring.

...um did I just I have really low expectations compared to everyone else or something...?

9/10

Some people expecting brand new really big flagship 1st party Nintendo title announcements in a early autumn direct... why?

No you dont, people giving 6 or below is nonsense.

Some people on this site seem to have a very strange way of rating things. They take 5 as the average instead of the usual 7-8/10.

It's more so delivery that I have an issue with, not the fact of which accent they use.

9/10. Fast-paced, tons of new announcements from third parties, Xeno release on December 1st, and a look at 2018. Great direct. I guess we'll have another big one in Jan about the 2018 games.

I give it a 8/10

Some unexpected news and Mario Odyssey somehow looks more amazing every time they show it.

PS4/XB1 also had tons of ports in 1st year, this generation ports/remasters are totaly normal thing.

3 new ports? You do realise that Wolfenstein 2 is a new game, not port of old game!?

They were very clear, they said they are showing games that are coming in next couple of months. Also Spring beginning in 1st quarter of year. In any case, Nintendo usualy have Nintendo Direct before holiday season in late November, same like in early January, so there are plenty of time to anancud more Q1 games.

I actually thought W2 had already come out.
Still, the game is coming next month and the Switch version, sometime next year. Does it really change the big picture? Not really.
By the time it comes out, most of it's sales have already been made.

Even if they had a ton of ports, they had ALL the support from 3rd parties.
If that was the case with Switch, then, ok. But it's not. Unfortunately, it's not.

Spring does start in the first quarter, just at the end of said quarter.
If they have more Q1 games, why not show some instead of showing only Kirby and Yoshi?
Not saying they haven't got them, but it is in fact strange how they first show a Spring game and then a Winter game (or games)?

Actually it change hole picture, because its announcement of new game, not announcement of port or remaster of some old game like you wrote.

Well Nintendo never had strong 3rd support from SNES, and Switch situation is very OK despite all those ports and remasters, it also has some new games, and together they making killier 1st year for Switch.

And that basicly means Spring is also in first quarter. We already go through all that, they don't show everything they have 6 months in front. We already saw how Nintendo is operating recently and espacily with Switch where in most cases they focusing on games that will be released in next few months, so nothing isn't strange relly, for instance Doom is announced in middle of September like Holiday game. Again you are only person who find all that strange or worrying.

I think it's school related.

In my school with you passed with 7.5/10  so for me below 7.5 its considered bad.

I kinda remember it being for that fiscal year, but maybe this intrepretation wasn't correct after all.

What I find funny is that it seems Xenoblade Chronicles 2 can do nothing to win over people.

The first two trailers were mostly story trailers and people bitched and moaned about wanting some environment trailers like X had. This trailer showcased the environments and the games factions and lands and still people are bitching and moaning.

All of the gameplay stuff, hours between E3 and other gameplay showcases, and like 4 minutes during this focused on combat mostly.

So what is it you guys want. THey have shown off story trailers, environment trailers and even showcased the combat, combo's, blades, ect in depth.

I feel you guys are still just butthurt over the anime style.

You generalize what people want, citing things I've never said.
And then with 0 indication, you reach the conclusion that "our" issue is the anime style, and lump me in with this group.
"Still butthurt" over it, in fact, as if I ever said anything about the anime style in the first place.

Well, Xenosaga 1 used a similar style.

It's what you do with the artsyle that matters.
And I happened to like what they did with it so much that I made countless sigs and avatars from it.
Examples:

But yeah you're probably right. My problem boils down to the anime style. You nailed it.

Aside from attempting to discredit opinions with nonsensical reasoning and generalization, your argument here is "They've shown story, environment, and combat, so you shouldn't want anything more."

Well I don't know about you, but I don't get automatically interested whenever I see any story, any characters, or any combat system, no matter what they appear to be. If I did, I would want to play every rpg that was ever made.

They don't have Soraya Saga as a storywriter anymore, so I don't know what to expect from this game, but I'll tell you how Xenogears and Xenosaga did not present their stories. They didn't immediately introduce some sort of holy grail tropey item/goal like "the legendary sword" or "Elysium" as the the deus ex machina to strive for that's going to save the world, and repeat it over and over again. Concepts like that were not used as dangling carrots, but rather the culmination of slowly developing the stories. I'll give you an example:
In Xenosaga there may have been a counterpart to Elysium. But like I said, it wasn't intruduced as a mythical goal for your journey. It wasn't until the third game that it was revealed that this place was even possible to visit. Over the course of three games it was subtly built up in the story more and more, and eventually came as a surprise in the third game.

Tropey mythical locations and deus ex machina objects like "the legendary sword" were not the focal point of the story, or what made them intriguing enough to keep you interested until such concepts were introduced.
I don't have anything negative to say about the world of Xenoblade 2 aside from the legendary destination, but I also don't have anything positive to say about it yet.
And the character design hasn't exactly compensated for this either.

I could go into why I found Fei, Elly and Citan, or even just KOS-MOS much more interesting from how they were presented in magazines/trailers, but I digress.
And some of the voice acting in Xenoblade 2 sounded very questionable. In particular some of the characters with accents.
The music seems good though. Not sure how I feel about the combat system. Need to see more.

Give me Xenosaga's art style any day over Xenoblade 2.

Still reigning champ though (and I'd argue far closer to Xenosaga's art style, but you know.... Better.)
