I was going to ask you about this, but now I see your feelings are similar to mine.
The presentation of Xenogears drew me in immediately just by looking at the character design and the world from pictures in magazines. I wanted to play it as soon as I saw it. And Xenosaga had some exciting trailers that focused on the right things.

Maybe this Xenoblade 2 trailer was mainly just meant to serve as a combat tutorial, but there was nothing in it that drew me in like some of the older games, and I wanted to see that.

What I find funny is that it seems Xenoblade Chronicles 2 can do nothing to win over people.

The first two trailers were mostly story trailers and people bitched and moaned about wanting some environment trailers like X had. This trailer showcased the environments and the games factions and lands and still people are bitching and moaning.

All of the gameplay stuff, hours between E3 and other gameplay showcases, and like 4 minutes during this focused on combat mostly.

So what is it you guys want. THey have shown off story trailers, environment trailers and even showcased the combat, combo's, blades, ect in depth.

I feel you guys are still just butthurt over the anime style.

First off, no need for the insult thank you. You can get over yourself.

Second, as for what I want is something that looks like its been more than just cobbled together. I want a story that doesn't seem like the absolute cheapest anime tropes (in a bad way). I'd appreciate good voice acting. I'd like graphics that seem like they were made for the Switch. And yes, it'd have been greatly appreciated if they didn't get the character designs out of the anime bargain bin.

I actually thought W2 had already come out.
Still, the game is coming next month and the Switch version, sometime next year. Does it really change the big picture? Not really.
By the time it comes out, most of it's sales have already been made.

Even if they had a ton of ports, they had ALL the support from 3rd parties.
If that was the case with Switch, then, ok. But it's not. Unfortunately, it's not.

Spring does start in the first quarter, just at the end of said quarter.
If they have more Q1 games, why not show some instead of showing only Kirby and Yoshi?
Not saying they haven't got them, but it is in fact strange how they first show a Spring game and then a Winter game (or games)?

It's only September right now. They are amping up and hyping the holiday season.

There is plenty of time for a November direct that will show off early 2018 games. Pretty sure they do directs in November and in January.

Makes no sense not to advertise upcoming games for teh biggest sales season of the year. Why take away ad time away from upcoming games to games not coming out for a year. You only showcase super far away games when you are trying to intice buyers to purchase your system. The switch has no need for that, thus shoudl use all its ad resources on current, comming soon games.

Unless Yoshi is a Q1 game, i find it odd that they rather show games coming in Spring, instead of games coming in the Winter.

Did you say that a year away is super far away?
That's what i understood.
To first sell your console, yes, it's important to show that consumers can count on games coming in the short, medium and long term. But that doesn't mean it's not important to not do it again, because, you are always trying to sell your console to new customers or people who want a second console and have to make a decision.
In that regard, always showing what you have in stores for consumers is always very important.

...um did I just I have really low expectations compared to everyone else or something...?

9/10

Some people expecting brand new really big flagship 1st party Nintendo title announcements in a early autumn direct... why?

No you dont, people giving 6 or below is nonsense.

  • They gave release dates for many games.
  • Great third party support, not only for old ports but for new games people thought will never come to a Nintendo console.
  • We got info and a Demo of a game we knew nothing about for the last 7 months
  • That Mario Oddyssey trailer was amazing.
Sure it wasn't perfect, The pokemon and XC2 trailers where slow and boring. I was hopping for a first Party game teaser of pikmin 4 or Luigi's mansion 3

It looks seriously good, though. And Nintendo is in charge of the publicity, and it seems like they didn't want to sell the game at all, which is unfortunate.

I disagree on it looking good, especially seriously good.

Why.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

Didn't insult, just pointed out hypocricy.

Please tell me this anime trope story. All i can tell from story is that this kid finds a sword and they want to get to the world tree. There are others who want this same sword because its apparantly a legendary sword. About the most bare bones story so far. Clearly there is a lot of stuff hidden in regards to story.

Voice acting. Unless the game is a western game, all you hear is people again bitch and moan about voice acting. I don't think I've ever seen a japanese game shown with voice acting where people didn't bitch about it. Whenever I hear someone complain about it, all I picture is a wheebo behind their keyboard with their wrist resting on a boob mouse rest. It's just too damn cliche to hear someone complain about voice acting for a game coming from Japan. A trailer can have only 1 line and the internet will be flooded with complainers about needing dual audio or some such. It's pathetic. Not saying there are not bad dubs, but there is a clear bias when it comes to japanese games and their dubs.  I'm sure peopel complained baout xenoblade 1's voice acting, and now its VA are like a cult classic in being loved.

Graphics made for the switch? What is that? If I think of 10 great games for the switch, rarely any of them share the same style of graphics.

8/10.

Got more info on XC2 and the visuals got improved.
Doom and Wolfenstein for Switch, no one expected that.
Splatoon more maps.
Octopath Traveler footage and demo!
Sadly..no real virtual console besides arcade.

Intel Core i7 8700K | 32 GB DDR 4 PC 3200 | ROG STRIX Z370-F Gaming | RTX 3090 FE| Crappy Monitor| HTC Vive Pro :3

7/10

+ Bethesda heavily supports Switch
+ Mario Odyssey bundle confirms Switch hard launch in October
+ Square Enix ports games to western audience

- almost no new games announced for Switch besides Wolfenstein and Doom
- no Miiverse successor announced / communication between friends within Switch
- still no save games backup possibility (500+ hours could get lost while taking the console outside)
- no concrete release date for some 2017 games
- no new big games for 2018 teased

Asking if I was "still butthurt" isn't pointing out hypocricy, so yeah you can get over yourself.

That revealed barebones story is also very tropish. Boy find legendary item/person (this time both) and has to escort said person to a legendary place. Insert "It's our dream" a lot.

Voice acting is terrible though, and not in a nitpicking kind of way. It's actually very bad. Did you hear some of those accents? Lol

Like, here is an example of just some bad freaking voice acting

we can all agree this is bad without any nitpicking, so is this games voice acting. It is bad. (*edit* Not saying the voice acting is that bad, just an exaggerated example to get my point accross)

Your top 10 games can be whatever they want, but the graphics of this game still look very dated, and not because it's anime, because they look dated.

You were just the one I quoted. Lots of people complaining about the spotlight. If you noticed I said 'you guys" meaning more than just you. I was generalizing the reaction that this game has received every time it is given a new trailer. If a story trailer is shown off, complaining about wanting environments. If environments are shown off, complaining about something else. Never happy.

The accents are fitting in line with the british accents of teh first game, which was highly loved as I said to a cultish almost level.

But again my point is still the same. They coudl be the same voice actors of The last of us and people would still bitch because its a japanese game with english voice acting. For some reason they are ALWAYS ALWAYS complained about when first shown. There is always dual audio begging, ect. NEVER do i hear any VA bitching for western games. But its 100% with japanese games. Not watching youtube clip, but one example doesn't refute my point.

I don't bother arguing about graphics in games.

The accents however are not delivered as well as in the first game. I loved the British accents as well, and think they are fitting for Xenoblade 2, but listen to some Xenoblade voice acting then this. There just seems to be this veil of amatuerism lying over this project that's kind of unusual and is kind of off putting compared to really all of there previous works. I mean, Xenosaga Episode 2 is notorious for its bad voice acting, but it gets recognized,

I'm just saying do the same here. Recognize the dialogue here is not delivered very well in some cases.

Essemtially, it's a lot of small flaws in really every aspect of this game (as well as one of my personal pet peeves in collecting monsters, never been a huge fan).
