That's fine, as long as Zelda and Mario come to PC when Nintendo goes third party

Judging by Switch sales, Nintendo will go third party at the same time MS and Sony do.

Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-5643-2927-1984

Never say never.

Never. There, I said it !

I suspect Pokemon was playable on PSP and beyond via emulation so I think it has already happened.

Pokemon is on PC, Android and iOS anyway. (Thanks Emulation!)
And is perfectly legal to play on those platforms. (Legality of which varies between geographical region, thus your mileage may vary.)

It's a shame they don't do a proper release everywhere.
I would imagine it would sell like gangbusters if it was exposed to 100's of millions of extra gamers/wallets if they did a proper Xbox One/Playstation 4/Steam/Android/iOS mainline release.

A Pokemon game on mobile would gain insane amounts of money. It'd literally cost them a few dollars to make, but they can charge .99 or something and gain a lot of profit.

Pokemon will eventually show up on pther platforms when Nintendo inevitably falls. And for the rabid fans, no, that doesn't mean they'll fall today, tomorrow, next week, or even next year. But eventually all companies die, and Nintendo is not immune to that. And when it does die, the rights to Pokemon will most definitely be bought by a different company and games will appear on that platform, new or old or both

Honestly, I wish that all companies excercised this kind of restraint.  The world would be a much better place, IMO.

Nintendo is not your average big corporation, which is why they have such an insane amount of savings in the bank account and can afford to ride out bum generations like the Wii U without sacrificing their core principles.  By not over-extending and burning out their IP when times are good, Nintendo doesn't have to kill themselves and behave like Sega when the times are bad.  It's a very conservative philosophy that you don't see often nowadays, but when all is said and done look at how many times Nintendo has proven their doom predictors wrong.

If the Switch didn't pan out I think Nintendo would have had to finally buckle and compromise on their policies, but given that the Switch is looking to be a fairly solid console I wouldn't predict to be seeing Nintendo-controlled IP showing up on non-Nintendo platforms for at least the next 1.5 generations (other than maybe the occaisional mini-game style smart phone game).  Pokemon would be the first to go since it is super popular and not fully under Nintendo's control (which is why we got Pokemon GO last gen), but the Switch being a success now firmly pulls Pokemon back into Nintendo's sphere for the foreseeable future.

Impressive how this thread has become a Nintendoom thread... all people off topic, where are the moderators???.

on topic: pokemon is a Nintendo IP aparently the IP is own by 3 companies but Nintendo ows half of one of those companies and all the trademarks for every pokemon and the pokemon name.

The only way that Nintendo could "fall" is in a situation where Pokémon has no value as an IP anymore.

Does this mean we could get Uncharted on a Nintendo console when Sony inevitably falls?
