Same here. Even if the wording is a bit strong he is still pretty much on spot IMO.

Seemed very forced and out of nowhere, almost like me on this site sometimes. We don't really have the numbers on X preorders, do we? He also mentions that the only reasons for buying an Xbox One X are if you already have an Xbox One (?) and a 4K tv. To which he added that if you bought a 4k tv you are a moron because theres no 4k TV signal yet. I bet many people had the same suspiction on the sales claim. But I still think the X will sell more than what the skeptics think, yet nowhere near Switch numbers. So, is Patcher full of it on this, or is he onto something? Do you own a 4K tv?

WindowsCentral response?
What extrapolation? The celebrations by fans?

....I play games, watch movies, and stream all kinds of 4k content to my TV. Why does he think the possible applications for a TV are limited to whatever services network and cable TV are willing to provide? This behind-the-times view certainly explains a lot of his past articles though lol
Seriously, the difference between 1080p and 4k on my TV (or 4k monitor for that matter) are night and day. I'm not about to fret that I can't watch cable TV in 4k yet, especially as I abandoned cable television a few years ago lol; streaming services are just superior in every way and actually offer 4k options as well.
I agree that 4K-TVs are for morons. The feature a 4K-tv has, that I would like to have in my 1080p-TV, is 10-bit pixel depth (of course after the industry settle for a standard for this).
Heck with my viewing distance there is no real difference between 720p and 1080p.

Why exactly does enjoying a higher definition experience make a person a moron? It seems to me that's been rather par for the course.
I don't know your viewing distance, but there's one thing I'd certainly agree with: if you're going to get a 4k TV, make sure it's a big one (probably ~55 inch minimum) to really be able to appreciate the difference. Those smaller 4k TVs are almost pointless, but from personal experience I can attest to the fact that a larger 4k TV offers an amazing display that is very, very obvious lol

It's not even the fastest sales though. It's the fastest preorder which of course is microsoft pr because there sure as hell hasn't been any steam behind Xbox all year.

Because at a (for most people) normal viewing distance (and screen size) you will not see the difference with 4k over 1080p.
The biggest difference that most people notice when watching 4K material on a 4K TV is the added colour depth, witch makes the picture look better but not because of increased resolution.
A computer monitor at 4k or 5k is not the same since you normally sit within 1 m from it.

Beware, 4k discs are most often a "scam" (for purists who only want real 4k). Still now, most of the time the final master is at 2k, studios upscales the 2K image to 4K and retouch the content for 4K UHD TV thereafter.
Last time i watched TV regularly was when there were music videos on (german) MTV. And Golden Boy.

Your viewing distance? My viewing distance? What is the difference?
Hunting Season is done...
4K UHD TV sales are poised to grow by a further 38% in 2017 to account for more than a third of the worldwide TV market, according to latest projections from Futuresource Consulting. This comes in the wake of a strong performance in 2016 when 4K UHD surpassed 25% of total TV sales, despite the remaining scarcity of regular broadcast 4K UHD content in most regions
The funny part is that they not expected that 4K tv's will reach 33% of the TV's sold before 2019...
