Considering that we cannot rule out that this joke was motivated by real biases against black people I'd say the safe thing to do is to put him on desk duty indefinitely.

Sucks for him if it was just an innocent joke but I would not want to take the risk if it wasn't.

But again people choose their battles based on their preconceived stances. Black people commit violent crimes disproportionally, White men commit child sex crimes disproportionally.

That's ignoring the cirumstances surrounding. Blacks are poorer on average than whites, and a higher proportion are in poverty, and poverty breeds desperation which causes an increase in crime.

Yes but why are they more poor? They cant choose to go to school instead of sell drugs or join gangs? Hell, if you are poor the goverment pays for your education. Most are already getting goverment assistance and food stamps, free college should be a given. The problem is that they choose to do what makes them the most money the quickest, they dont want a job at McDonalds because that requires work. Its a matter of choice, not opportunity.

He was simply sarcastically joking about what the media says about him and his profession. It may not seem, but police people always suffer a brutal pressure when working. They have a risky job and they are always walking on the line of their own lives and the lives of the others (at least in my country, I say)

People these days.... never miss a chance to portray cops as the bad guys any little chance they have.

I agree with poorly trained and indescriminate gun use by police. IMO the police should only be able to use their gun as a last resort. Tasers and non lethal bean bags, pepper spray etc. should always be used.
