In most places, police aren't to be feared, but the american police force is poorly trained (19 weeks, compared to 130 as is standard in Germany) and given much less restriction on their weapon use. The result is fairly obvious:

I agree with poorly trained and indescriminate gun use by police. IMO the police should only be able to use their gun as a last resort. Tasers and non lethal bean bags, pepper spray etc. should always be used.
