Isn't this the first week where Splatoon did better than Dragon Quest? Not that it matters though, since that has more to do with the fact that Dragon Quest got so many sales in it's first few weeks already.

Monster Hunter seems to be performing very low on Switch. Not great numbers by any means, although it's to be expected since it's the third version of the Generations game ... which is already a compilation game

Capcom pretty much has to be making Monster Hunter 5 Portable for Switch in any case. The highest selling console version of MH has sold about 1 million in Japan and those were on two consoles that sold more than PS4 (PS2 and Wii), so MHW will be about the same as that in Japan.

The portable versions can peak at 4 million ... there's no way Capcom is dumb enough to overlook that. You can see how easily Switch can outsell the PS4 in Japan with stock.

As for Nintendo's crazy supply chain, it's pretty much typical Nintendo. They'll always address mistakes they made in the last generation, but make new ones in the process. They should have had back up suppliers for common parts ready. So this time they got a good launch window lineup but cut the legs off of it some what but not having adequete supply. Apple sells more in a quarter than Nintendo (or Sony) often do in a year, it was dumb to think that wouldn't be an issue, they should have had a contingency for components, it's not like every other tablet maker in the world doesn't manage some how.

Expectedly bad launch for MonHunXX, but decent Switch numbers. Based on the high Splatoon 2 sales I actually expected Switch to be even higher than it is, but it is a good week nontheless. I guess the MH bundle was very limited?

Shame that next week is likely going to be down again.

At this point Nintendo should just make a Switch bundle for every Switch game xD

Pocky Lover Boy!

At this point, the REAL system seller for the Switch is increased stock.

It depends if that bundle includes the price of the game

how to sell a game in japan:

1.make a lot of switch bundle.

2.profit

Great Switch sales. MH XX didn't do that well but it's a late late port so I guess it shouldn't be surprising. Spla2n is a beast. PS4 sales are disappointing.

So... let me get this straight. Monster hunter fans should buy a port, of an enhanced edition (which already sold over 2 mil), of an enhaced edition (which already sold over 2 mill). I'm sorry but your logic doesn't make sense right now. Are you really using a lazy , straight port of a multimillion seller 3ds game to justify why MH should not be on nintendo platforms? I'm sorry but why should MH fans buy the same game 3-4 times with minor updates each time? btw this last edition had no updates. Would you buy the same game with minor updates or in this case no update from the previous release 3-4 times?

MHX was kind of a spin-off/alternative take, not an enhanced edition.

Also this logic would hold more weight if Monster Hunter 3G hadn't sold more on WiiU at launch, which was a straight HD port of an enhanced port itself (on a significantly less popular platform):

04./00. [WIU] Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate # (Capcom) {2012.12.08} (¥4.800) - 106.388 / NEW

And it's miles off the last 'lazy, straight port' prior to that:

Monster Hunter Freedom 3 HD Ver. (Capcom) {2011.08.25} (¥4.800) - 287.829 / NEW

I don't see why you're picking apart his post, because time and time again MH fans have proven that they will buy the same game with minor (or no updates) each time. It's just, increasingly people are unwilling to do that, which is fair. It's less of a reflection of Switch; and more of a reflection of what Capcom have done with the IP, but regardless this is still a poor opening week for XX.

Right, MHX was an alternative take with many recycled monsters. Then came MHXX (double cross), that was an enhanced version. And that was ported to Switch. Interesting to see, that afterall MHXX isn't that far behind MH3U WiiU, that afterall was an enhanced version YEARS after the original. But majority of MH3U (or 3G) sales were on 3DS anyways.

With the current stock situation people will pay for an game they don't want just to get to a Switch.
