Forums - Sony Discussion - I bought Doom and Horizon yesterday and did not enjoy either

Doom is gun porn. If you like running around with the most bad ass arsenal, and feeling invinsible, then it is the game for you. For me, I like this about once a year. So Doom was enjoyable to me, but not something I would say everyone has to expereince.

Horizon on the other hand is a masterpiece. For me it is a toss up between Horizon and The Last of Us for greatest traditional display 3D game of all time. It holds my personal records for the both the longest play session, and most time played in a single week. I highly recommend Horizon to anyone capable of operating a game controller.

Wrap up. Give Hozion a a couple more hours, if it ain't your thing after growing up, getting out of the village, and exploring the world a bit, then go ahead and call it. (You will probably want to unplug your consoles, box up your games, accessories, ect. and put everything up on ebay, because gaming just ain't your thing). As for Doom, if mindless killing isn't your thing, a couple more hours and better guns most likely won't change that.

Horizon isn't even out of tutorial mode until five hours into the game. You need to wait until you hit the second major city. Deciding you don't like Horizon before then is like deciding you don't like BotW before you even get off the Great Plateau.

If you enjoy Halo I can see why you wouldn't like Doom. Personally I hate two weapon limits and regen health. I love that Doom went oldschool there and had wacky inventive weapons to boot. I also hate limited movement like short sprinting and reloading. So I love Doom for that too. If you want realism or Halo like controls you probably won't like Doom

You judge games way to quickly. That's all I'm saying.

This too.  He didn't get to any of the huge robo dinos or amazing weapons and enemy types in Doom and Horizon.

I am Iron Man

That's a shame. Both games do different things and provide different experiences.

Never played Doom but Horizon was awesome from the beginning till the end.

I actually digitally pre-ordered Horizon. Beautiful game (especially on Pro) but I quit after about eight hours. Too many tracking missions and, while it started great, somewhere along the way, I lost interest. Never played Doom. It never was my type of game.

Don't know about the full game but I didn't like Doom's demo. Felt nothing like Doom 3 as I remember it.

The devs have been very upfront about how its not intended to feel like Doom 3.  It is intended to feel like Doom 1, which it does.

Never played doom and I probably won't. Played and loved horizon, it started kinda slow, but not that slow. It's a completely different genre. It isn't a shooter. It's primarily a stealth/adventure game with a bit of rpg mixed in. If you don't like stealth or rpg games it isn't for you.

Horizon gets much better once you get unleashed on the world. That is if like exploring open world games, following your own path to see what you can discover. If you're looking for a linear action with story interruptions experience like Uncharted you bought the wrong game. You can play Horizon like that (always follow the main quest markers) yet that's not where the real fun is.

Doom is constant action but no story. The demo felt a lot like the first Doom however it didn't convince me to buy it either. I will buy Doom VFR though.
