Kingdom Hearts, Monster Hunter, Dragon Quest all back on Playstation platform and don't forget about FF VII Remake. It's easily going to beat PS3 numbers.

Eh, myabe it'll reach it before then. People are forgetting that with Dragon Quest XI, 3DS has a much larger install base than PS4 and I'll bet anything that more Japanese gamers will just buy the 3DS version rather than the PS4/Both versions. MHW comes out in 2018 right? I don't think with DQXI it'll hit 6M before then in Japan.

What does the 3DS version of Dragon Quest XI has to do with PS4 hardware sales? lol

It takes away potential sales...? Hardware and software are directly linked, that's no secret. There are consumers who will buy the 3ds version of Dragon Quest XI and skip buying a PS4 and PS4 version of Dragon Quest XI. I don't think about sales at face value because it's much more than face value, especially for a series like Dragon Quest which has so much influence on hardware of any company. When Dragon Quest X was announced for Wii exlusive, Nintendo's stock went up and Sony's went down as many were expecting the next console Dragon Quest to be on PS3 as the last console DQ was on PS2.  As someone who has studied Dragon Quest as a game series and sales, it's apparent to me the influence it has on other hardware.

So it barely outsold (not even worth mentioning or visible in the grap)h the weakest performing Sony home console till date (probably also in Japan). And this is somehow worth celebrating. When compared to the rest of the world the performance of the PS4 in Japan is rather poor.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

But the PS4 doesn't need for DQXI to be exclusive to reach 6m before MHW comes out. That's what I'm saying. Last year at the same point in time the PS4 sold 1m more until the end of the year. It won't be down from last year by a lot if at all. It had FFXV then but this year it has DQXI. DQXI is still be a major system seller for the PS4 even if the 3DS version exists.

Its matching PS3 which was considered very mediocre indeed after a horrible start and ridiculous starting price in Japan... and that's great? It isn't.

What will you say when it beats it to 6/7/8m etc?  If you look at the graph ps4 stayed ahead despite ps3 having by far it's best period. It will now power on ahead of it and create a sizable lead.  What a beast.  The Wii U and XB1 both failed badly in Japan.  Kudos to ps4 for keeping the traditional home console market alive.

If you completely ignore everything about the Japanese video game market and its evolution, then yeah, you're right...

Nice job ps4.
I wonder how much the switch will affect ps4 sales going foward though.

Agree, from some reason it's celebrating like it outselling PS3 2:1, like PS4 actually doing on almost every other market.
