I like it, but the timing of the joy con clap sound was a little off

This is way too minor for me to even notice.

Minor? The logo animation? That’s, like, a central component to the identity of a system…

I mean I do think it looks a little awkward when the 2 appears but if you close your eyes for two seconds you won't see it.

Also, it blows my mind that nobody is mentioning the NSW2 logo animation. I rlly do not like it…like at all. Am I the only one who’s bothered by it?

Yeah, it didnt bother me because it didnt get my attention as much either.

Seeing as digital games no longer give gold points (and 100% of my Switch era games have been digital) and I’ll likely get no more god coins of any significance, decided to use my last on XCX:DE. One of my favourite games of the Wii U era.

Ride The Chariot | ‘25 Completed

On the logo animation it's just that we're used to the Switch animation we'll get used to the Switch 2 animation, both are tailored to their platform's identity NSW with the top down slide motion and NSW2 with the magnet clip in action.

It might just be the difference between DLSS and FSR, but the Switch 2 version looks better than the PS5 version at certain spots like 3:04, lol. What the fuck is going on. I think devs prefer Nvidia hardware (or at least some of them do).

This is the closest we've had to a Nintendo console being on par with competing systems in about 20 years, which is pretty crazy especially considering it also functions as a handheld.

Well sure, but it's only close when it's docked and not being used as a handheld lol. PS5/XBS will almost be five years old when this launches too, which feels weird, and it's a more expensive Nintendo console. So it's not that crazy really! But it's nice to see.

It's more and more clear the "Switch era" is its own era, and the Wii/DS/3DS/Wii U era is over hardware wise (just as the NES-SNES-N64-GameCube that preceded that was a distinct era).

Nintendo is making more tech conscious decisions and more tech capable hardware these days, maybe not absolute bleeding edge because then it would cost like $800, but still a lot more premium and less toy-like of a product. 120 fps VRR capable screen, even stuff like in the Welcome Tour game they're highlighting how many pixels 4K is by using the old Super Mario Bros. Level 1-1 (lol) and it has other mini-games about guessing the frame rate. IGN in their impressions mentioned how the Switch 2 feels like a very premium product and makes even the first Switch feel like a toy.

Still a portable form factor, before this week no one would have expected a 4k 60fps capable machine that in comparisons is not only holding up to PS5 but also outperforming the Series S as seen with games like SF6 especially as Steam Deck doesn't even do that at the same price point and this is right at the start of its life, when used as a handheld you'll also be looking at a smaller screen so it balances out.

Switch has been going for 8 years and counting at this point and going by release schedule will go into 9 years possibly 10 it's highly likely they plan to do the same with Switch 2 so more premium tech for longevity makes sense.

UK Nintendo support has said the Switch 2 version of games is the Switch 1 cartridge with a code for the upgrade in the box.

It wouldn't be the first time support staff were wrong though so we'll see.
