Still a portable form factor, before this week no one would have expected a 4k 60fps capable machine that in comparisons is not only holding up to PS5 but also outperforming the Series S as seen with games like SF6 especially as Steam Deck doesn't even do that at the same price point and this is right at the start of its life, when used as a handheld you'll also be looking at a smaller screen so it balances out.
Switch has been going for 8 years and counting at this point and going by release schedule will go into 9 years possibly 10 it's highly likely they plan to do the same with Switch 2 so more premium tech for longevity makes sense.
