I mean the price of games doesn't really effect me too much as I buy all my games through the voucher system

I've been doing that as well. I usually wait for Costco to do a sale on their eshop cards which are already discounted to begin with for being a member.

But every now and then, places like Best Buy, Target or Amazon does deals on certain Nintendo first party games.

For me it was really just the digital aspect of it. I don't mind owning certain things digitally. Some things like books and posters yeah I want those to be physicals but games, Ehh less clutter around my house is always a good thing. I did however order ToTK for the sweet metallic poster and artbook it came with.

+1

I'm 100% digital now - the last physical game I bought was Final Fantasy XVI for PS5 back in 2023.

I dont see myself going physical again even though physical copies of games go cheaper quicker than digital ones.

Like you mentioned, less clutter and less dealing with physical shipments of games (i.e. Amazon shipped me EU version of physical copy of Bayonetta 3, so I gave up and bought it digitally when it went on sale).

That and I dont mind downloading - I'm on 1 GB fiber internet , and speaking of which , about to upgrade my internet to 5 GB which I am getting installed next week lol.

To be frank, Nintendo stated the 70$ games are going to be done on a game per game basis. Which I think will depend on the franchise worth and if the game budget was quite high to begin with. Don't know if Mario Kart would qualify for the latter criteria.

Wasnt that specifically with the Switch 1?

Not complaining if Switch 2 games are $60 though lol

I'd rather pay less than more.

My fingers are crossed that no more than about 3 Nintendo games for Switch 2 are $70 during its lifecycle. But I see that as too optimistic. All Nintendo said during the reveal of Tears of the Kingdom's price is that it wasn't the new standard, and the pricing can be a case-by-case basis. But that's almost two years ago and Switch 2 hadn't been revealed yet or even have really any details from Nintendo.

I think games like these will be $70 on Switch 2: 3D Zelda, 3D Mario, Mario Kart, Xenoblade Chronicles, Super Smash Bros., 3D Metroid, 3D Kirby (if we get a new one), 3D Donkey Kong (if we get a new one), Splatoon and... gasp...Pokémon RPGs. I think The Pokémon Company will push for $70 Pokémon games much more than Nintendo will. And I don't think Nintendo will stop them.

I think even popular games like Mario Party, 2D Mario, and 2D Zelda are safe from $70. I'm pretty skeptical of a $70 Fire Emblem, 2D DK, 2D Kirby or 2D Metroid as well.

Lifetime Sales Predictions

Switch: 161 million (was 73 million, then 96 million, then 113 million, then 125 million, then 144 million, then 151 million, then 156 million)

PS5: 115 million (was 105 million) Xbox Series S/X: 40 million (was 60 million, then 67 million, then 57 million. then 48 million)

PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)

3DS: 75.5 mil (was 73, then 77 million)

Going by your statement, you think there's no exception to be made ?
