Fire Emblem almost guaranteed for September (or perhaps we’ll have another Metroid Prime 4 situation where it gets revealed for December. That’s how they handled Xeno2 as well).

I could see Switch Sports NS2 Edition for early May and Fox in mid-to-late June. And Pikmin 4 NS2 Edition perhaps in August? Nintendo tends to skip August though— something to do with a JP holiday.

Had a really lovely moment at work today; we started a program at a new school (I work for a company that does classroom mentoring to teens with autism) and there was this quiet kid who was hesitant to share when we went around the circle sharing our interests.

Eventually with some encouragement he volunteered that he liked gaming, and when I asked which games he said he liked Splatoon; I told him me too and that I'd bought the first one way back when it came out in 2015; this kid who'd been near silent before suddenly perked up and started talking to me all about Splatoon!

It was a really nice moment that reminded me of how gaming can bring us together.

That child will be happy to see the release date trailer for Splatoon Raiders then.

talk about good timing! Can't wait to chat with him about it in next week's class.

Huh… and here I was thinking the Tomodachi Life hype was merely a funhouse mirror. Genuinely wasn’t expecting a big launch.

We should know more info by the time Famitsu data drops Thursday morning.

I feel like enthusiast gamers chronically underestimate the appeal of casual games; hardly any thought Animal Crossing New Horizons, Ring Fit Adventure, Switch Sports, or Pokemon Pokopia would be as big as they were either.

The last game sold 6.7m on 3DS it was massive in Europe and Japan.

Apparently, Tomodachi Life is also sold out across all major online retailers— dang. Nintendo really just dropped two major system sellers back-to-back. Circana data for March is showing major gains for Switch 2, nearly doubling shipment figures for January & February, and momentum according to Amazon sales data suggests a strong April as well. This in addition to the recent PS5 price hikes and a whole $1 billion film, Switch 2 is off to a supercharged second fiscal year.

Curious to see how well Nintendo can maintain momentum now. They still have many cards left to play: No 3D nor 2D Mario nor Zelda, no Animal Crossing, no Smash Bros, only DKBananza, MarioKart, Pokémon, and Pokopia. If OoT Remake is real, then Nintendo could be looking at a very solid FY’27.

Also: “Doom and gloom” seems like it’s completely done at this point. Most I’m seeing is people upset with the Mario Galaxy Movie. Maybe it’s a good thing Nintendo skipped their traditional H1 Direct presentation this year… I’d rather get a steady stream of reveals keeping people please than one major dump that everyone is disappointed by.

Oh! And lastly, Yoshi previews are out and impressions are way more positive than I was anticipating!! I was planning on skipping since Bubsy 4D launches the same day, but perhaps I’ll consider purchasing.

It’s a game with little emphasis on traditional platforming— no losing lives, no taking damage. Just exploration and taking in the vistas. Very distinct take on the 2D platformer genre, with a lot of potential to be a Switch 2 classic. Game also looks gorgeous according to previews.
