Forums - Nintendo - I think SNESSuper Famicom Mini is a rip off. Why I suggest not buying.

Had a feeling it was you.

As always, all your points are really bad at best.First of all, quality over quantity.Dosent matter a collection having over 100 games if those games are bad, or not that good.I would much rather pay for the Super Nintendo mini over any collection that has a myriad of games, if I find those games to be of an inferior quality. Why pay for games that I wont buy?
To your other point, you are already assuming that Nintendo is undershipping an item that hasnt released yet!Talk about premature.
About they making less than what the demand demands, it sucks.I wanted a NES mini and didnt bought one because of that, but I guess its more of a collector item. And I mean, it is what it is.But availability has nothing to do if the product is worth the asking price or not.
In the end, I think it is worth the money.I personally would have wished it was priced the same as the NES, but considering the quality of its games are superior, I feel that the price is fair.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

the Pal version of it just looks like such a beautiful little collectors item, even if it wasn't a full functional SNES with classics like Secret of mana on it I would consider paying the €100 just to own it as something on a shelf :)

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

Yeah, it's too much for me, but this is mainly going to be for collectors, and they're going to buy it for that price.

Another one... there's something really wrong with VG charts these days... day after day after day with topics like this... and always by the same 10 different people.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

Yes, get a cheap PS3, CFW and play everything up to the PS2 on it. Better bang for your buck.
...if you're an ass.

I am an ass.

I also want this SNES mini. Never had a SNES.

Of course it's a ripoff. You can get an emulator and all of the games and more on the internet for free! You can even put a random piece of plastic on your desk to keep the illusion.

That's like saying buying groceries is a ripoff because you can just rob the store.  Everything is a ripoff if you're used to getting everything for free.

It's a collector's item and I'm a collector therefore I will buy one

A more accurate analogy would be self grown food for free. Data multiplication isn't the same as robbery.

Sure it is. The company put the hard work into creating something and you take a copy of it without paying. It's no different than if you photocopied a book or took a video camera into a movie theater, you have no right to that data regardless of whether the original remains untouched. Taking something that doesn't belong to you is the definition of stealing.

I mean, I think the price of old NES and SNES games on the Virtual Console in general is a bit too high, but for what it is and comparing it to those prices, the SNES classic isn't actually that expensive. A single SNES game costs at least 7,99 on the VC, so 21 games for $80 dollars is comparatively cheap.

For me the value comes from the Snes controllers with the wii mote ports, those are very rare currently and very expensive(around $80). They were only made available as Club Nintendo gifts like 10 years ago so I'm excited to get a pair. Also the shell is cute and fun.
