Forums - Gaming - Any Nintendo fans with ill will for Sony?

Nah. The Playstation was my first console, the gameboy color my first handheld and I have love and nostalgia as well as criticism for both of them.

Trust me. Many are still bitter. They still held a grudge and that's the reason they blamed third party. I used to blame third party until I read up on the history myself. Nintendos isssues with third party including Sony who was third party for them, was not good compared to first and third party relationships today.

Where are these  bitter Nintendo fans? I never met one in real life. Only on the internet like Youtube.

When I was younger I used to be on gamespot forums before I knew about vgc in the late 2000s. The nintnedo fans were still sore in the gc era from the ps2s dominance. When I came here I was in consumer protest of sonys actions. Back then I was a nintnedo sympathizer until I read up on the history of drama between the two companies. You're right though, it's on YouTube and in many other places. It's not as rampant as it used to be because a younger generation is growing up around d it. Millennials and gen xers know about the drama though.

I've owned every Nintendo and Sony consoles since the NES for Nintendo and PS1 for Sony. Although I would say I have more favoritism for Nintendo games and I use their systems more often and have more games for, I enjoy my occasional Playstation game like Uncharted, Horizon, Persona, Grand Turismo, etc.

Who knows where Sony would be today if the collaboration between Nintendo and Sony for a CD-based console (which later ended up becoming modified and created the PS1) never started. I'm glad both exist till this day and have no ill will towards Sony or anyone.

The people I knew didn't care about how well PS1 was doing. They cared that games like FFVII, and Resident Evil, and Symphony of the Night, and Metal Gear Solid, etc., that could have been on the N64, weren't.

I myself liked the fact that Nintendo stuck with Cartridges at the time, and I still think it was a neat, nostalgic move. However, I also realize that if N64 had been CD based as it should have been, that generation would have been a whole different ballgame. Nintendo likely would have gotten all those big third party Playstation hits, perhaps exclusively in some cases. And if that had been the case, the Playstation brand might not have even really gotten off the ground. It certainly didn't succeed because of their first party published titles. The Playstation brand, at least in it's first two generations, almost always succeeded based on third party IPs.

I still remember being a small fanboy and being really upset at Sony over that FFVII magazine ad. I wanted Nintendo to put them in their place.

Seeing that you've grown to become the exact opposite of that, I would never have thought that.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

Well, as I was safely playing on PC back then I couldn't care less. And I don't care today. I'm not even sure I heard about consoles at that time. Maybe I was aware that in the past were was a Pong-machine. My first time I noticed consoles was, then a friend bought the Dreamcast. And this thing was a blast. I considered to buy one myself, but then Sega stopped producing it. I went console-less until Wii.

Nah not really, maybe in my younger years but I've mostly grown out of that - especially now that it seems both PS and Switch platforms can co-exist (PS as main home console, Switch as console, handheld hybrid). They are still and will probably always be my least favorite of the "big three" by far, I frankly just don't get the appeal of most of their games and always shocked how they continue to push so many consoles with these games, but I don't hate them or anything. To each his own I guess.

I'm a Nintendo fan that also likes Sony. I have a PS4 and think it's superb. However I will admit to disliking a minority of their fanbase, they act a bit high and mighty and saint Sony can do no wrong. I really did like seeing them squirm when the Wii was obliterating all in its path as I'm sure they have enjoyed Nintendo fans suffering in the Wii U years. All in all I think the industry is at its best when Nintendo and Sony both thrive like they are doing at present with Switch and PS4.

Out of curiosity, don't you think that's the case with any fanbase? There are always those who are embarassingly bad when it comes to the company their favourite company is in direct competition with (couldn't have phrased it worse, but alas).

I would even name users if this was a private conversation. I think it's confirmation bias when you only see it from a certain company.

Sure we Nintendo fans can be salty as most seas but nothing beats Sony fans, they are even more salty then the Black Sea. :)

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

I am a Nintendo fan, mostly. And I am not THAT fond of Sony, although I did own a PS1, PS2, PSP, PS3. Yet, I'd like them to do a bit worse, or MS and Nintendo step up. Competition is always a good thing.
