Exactly ps4 has pass his peak year *1, and now with xbox scorpio and NS  eating sales *2 it will not get to 100 millions, probably making sony to rush ps5 to market, that's what i'm think will happen.

1) thats not true.

Its selling better 2017 so far, than it did in 2016.  These are facts.

That means its not passed its peak year, but that 2017 is looking to be the best year for it so far.

2) Nintendo switch has been on the market for months now..... and it hasnt slowed the sales of the Playstation 4.

Again these are facts. Sales of the PS4 are up YOY month by month, even with the Switch out to compete with the PS4.

Your reasoning doesnt make sense, if you actually look at sales.

Sales say what you "think" so far is wrong.

After 2019's holiday, so i say January 2020

Just give it up JRPGFAN there is no reasoning with these guys. They insist that the PS4 won't sell over 100 million units. I think it will take a bit longer than expected but still it's just pure bias to think otherwise. Anyway if that's the route people choose let them. Although it does fascinate me that people think that a console that sells so much better than the PS ONE isn't going to surpass it. The only reason Wii didn't sell more was because Nintendo cut it legs and Sony isn't going to do that.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

They're going to sell 100mm units this week, once they announce that they're dropping the price to $99 at E3.

It wont if they plan a PS5 in a couple of years.
But like most Sony consoles, they will keep selling the machines for 10 years and claim how good there consoles sell.
PS4 will outsell Wii if PS5 doesn't come until 2021. However that's a long time to let MS sell Scorpio as the most powerful console.

2019

Good job they have more than 2 years then forecast for this fiscal year is 18m shipped... So if ps5 launches Nov 2019...

March 2018 - 78m (18m shipped)

March 2019 - 93m (15m shipped)

March 2020 - 103m (10m shipped)

Should pretty comfortably outsell wii., Won't just drop to 0 sales when ps5 launches either, should ship units in the following two years also.

Why should PS4 sell 10 million in 2020, with PS5 on market going for its second year of life? makes no sense.

The 10 million isn't 2020, it's April 2019 till March 2020, by the end of that Fiscal year PS5 would have been out for 4 months.

I doubt it. PS4 had fantastic 2016, but so far in 2017 sales kind of stagnated. With Switch and soon Scorpio on the market, there will be quite substantial amount of potential customers who will sway towards competitors. Not to mention that the PC gaming is on the all time high and keeps growing. So far PS4 was the universal platform of choice for gaming, that might not be the case next year.

Last NPD data we have is from April 2017.

SWI: 280k
PS4: 201k - 229k
XB1: 127

April YoY (year on year):

PS4 +23.0%

XB1 -25.3%

Also I believe it was up, every other month of 2017 as well.

How can sales have "stagnated" if their higher this year, every month so far, than last years?

Excuse my poor choice of words. By "kind of stagnated" I meant that so far in this calendar year, we don't see those crazy total YoY growths as we used to. Mind you, we just passed month four (data wise), so it might mean nothing, but the trend is quite obvious, as seen below.

Year January February March April Total Average YoY Growth
2014 780,051 1,013,374 953,923 617,299 3,364,647 841,162 NA NA
2015 696,215 965,093 1,368,318 764,815 3,794,441 948,610 429,794 12.77%
2016 909,242 1,180,757 1,277,421 699,414 4,066,834 1,016,709 272,393 7.18%
2017 1,020,013 1,092,665 1,312,748 809,423 4,234,849 1,058,712 168,015 4.13%
