Yeah, I don't really get it. it's a short term remedy that is making the situation worse down the line. But good for marketing I assume. Now they both did it, Sony and Nintendo.

At the time was accelerate the growth of userbase and make sure the only available console is X1 and help out the adversary.

Well the PS4 did already sell 7 million units this year. Many people including me thought it would slow down this year but the PS4 is selling faster than ever in its fourth year. So its pretty safe to assume that not a single 8th gen console that will catch up with the PS4. Whether or not the Switch will outsell the PS4 is however nothing more than a wild guess since data is severely lacking.

Nope its Just toshiba, they are tanking and i believe selling their Nand department to western digital, the problem is Nintendo doesnt wanna source their nand from any other manufacturer or maybe they have a contract in place with toshiba for certain amount of nand for a fiscal year, and nintendo just underestimated the demand.. So if there is a contract in place, then its just stupid on nintendo's part.. But I believe thats not the case, coz nintendo wouldnt have increased their yearly projection of shipping 20m units.

There was a thread when Sony announced to ship 18 million units this fiscal year where there was some doubt whether they would sell more or less than last year or simply be flat. Besides there are plenty of Wii vs PS4 threads in which people predict the PS4 would sell less than last year. But appearently even without the price cut its already in beast mode.

And different departments make game and hardware, unless you believe Phill Spencer that they didn't had games on the previous 3 years because they were focused on making scorpio (which is basically an admission that they though they were defeated and moved along to the next console).

Nope, there were people claiming it was frontloaded all the way to the 3rd year on the market.

Im one of those guys that goes "this is the peak year (2017)", but Ive had alot of people say Im wrong, because normally consoles dont peak in their 4th year.

PS4 is looking like its going to do just that however (first part of the year (YTD), sales have been higher than ever for it).

Sony are working on increaseing PS4pro supply, plus there might be a temp price cut to 349$.

Sony are probably going to do 199$ this holidays, for the normal PS4slim. The chinese have a CUH-2109 (cheaper to manufacture).
