PS3 and 360 lated too long. 2019 would be five years... that's long enough.

I really hope so because this would make zero sense for Sony. |
Yep.... I feel the same way and thus "calling BS" on it.
To me consoles are about giveing a good experiance, their easy & cheap.
APU's are good for something like that.
Price is much more important than maximiseing how powerfull you can make them.
Scorpio will launch with a 449-499$ price tag, and Im sure its sales will be alot less than the PS4pro, dispite the Scorpio being stronger.
Its going to matter even less (than it does today) by the time PS5 & XB2 launch, both will be easily capable of 4k by then.

I agree. I also want to add, however, that just becaause a new Playstation and Xbox get released, that does not automatically spell the end for the previous generation systems. Sony continued selling PS2 well into PS3s life, and PS3 has just gone out of production despite PS4 having been on the market since late 2013. I can see a PS5 and a PS4 variant co-existing for a good while.
Wonder if this could mean PS is thinking of doing something like a "supplemental computing device" for PS5. Build the console so you can slide in a specific PS made AMD graphics card. Similar to upgrading the hard drive. Sell the console with a worthwhile CPU, and pair it with a mid range GPU at launch. Then PS offers the new graphics card every two years for say $200. Just slide the old one out, and slide the new one in. Auto download the necessary software and your good to go.
PS1 - ! - We must build a console that can alert our enemies.
PS2 - @- We must build a console that offers online living room gaming.
PS3 - #- We must build a console that’s powerful, social, costs and does everything.
PS4 - $- We must build a console that’s affordable, charges for services, and pumps out exclusives.
PRO -%-We must build a console that's VR ready, checkerboard upscales, and sells but a fraction of the money printer.
PS5 - ^ -We must build a console that’s a generational cross product, with RT lighting, and price hiking.
PRO -&- We must build a console that Super Res upscales and continues the cost increases.
Unless it's a rumour from credible sources like Digital Foundry, Jason Schreier from Kotaku, Shinobi etc, these clickbait articles are all bullshit.
That said, the PS5 will be much more powerful than a 1070 level performance. It'll be based on 7nm AMD Navi, Ryzen gen 2 or 3. Thing is going to be a beast.
I was saying how PS5 is a Holiday 2019 console for years but the closer we get to that date - now only 2.5 years away - the further out I want it to be. Who knows maybe in 2 years my attitude will change but PS4 will hit its peak this year and its weird to think the successor will be here so soon. The graphics still amaze me, even some multiplats. Right now all I want is the games of 2018 (and beyond): God of War, Death Stranding, Resident Evil 2 Remake, Shenmue 3, FF7R, Psychonauts 2, Beyond Good and Evil 2 etc

Yeah, feels like PS4 is just as new as it was in 2013 lol.

It's no longer an issue when you have a mid gen upgrade like the Pro.
As a ps4 owner since launch I don't want a new comsole until at least 2020. As someone else said it will likely launch after GTA 6.
If they don't use an API they will proberbly use a Nvidia GPU someting that mark cerney already said is possible since Nvidia doesn't really deliver amazing CPU performance.
If they go with the Vega chip from AMD it doesn't make much sense to me that they wouldn't make a custom API as its much easier to cool/more compact and shares a memory bus, many advantages when choosing AMD since they make the CPU.
It could also be a hint that they want to be able to make the hardware upgradable, that would make a lot of sense but its unlikely.
Anyway lets hope the PS5 is still a ways off and in that case I am sure every option is still on the table

Twitter @CyberMalistix
Doubt it since Ryzen will have APUs which also have a significant increase in performance so no real reason to get a real GPU/CPU since APUs are usually cheaper.
I can see 1070 level performance pretty easily though cause by the time the ps5 comes out, Volta will be out with a significant performance increase over the ~1070 level graphics. Doubt 2019 Though
PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850
Doesn't mean anything. Even if it's a dedicated GPU Sony will make sure to get the lowest end they can get away with. But at least it leaves room for a stronger CPU.

So will we see it at e3 this year
