Forums - Gaming - Any developer/publisher reactions since Nintendo gave out the sales numbers?

Why? Almost every system sells well the first few weeks.
Lets see how it does after 6 months.

In a developer's eyes its.
2.6mill vs 60+ mill

I think in a developer's eyes, it's more like: "hmm, can the effort needed to port our games to this new platform prove profitable in the end?"

I'm happy to see you're relaxing the rules and that heated debate is healthy, so can we all start arguing the point and not attacking the person behind the point. And please, if a person clearly has an agenda and is using it to derail every single thread by repeating exactly the same thing, have a quiet word.

You're too late for that!

Those sales numbers aren't particularly impressive.
Not even in comparison with other Nintendo system

Yup, break record for a Nintendo system in their history in many nations is not impressive because you say so

Nah, most are probably still in denial. Conventional wisdom in the gaming industry is that Nintendo is ALWAYS doomed, despite literally every bit of evidence pointing to the contrary, because.. Reasons!

Hell, just look at some of the responses in this very thread even..

Its barely outpacing the Wii U atm so we will see next April how it's really doing

As many viable platforms as possible for any developers is win win for everyone. If a developer see potential for good sales on any platform they will make games for it. I just dont think you will ever see a statement like 'wow, sales are going good - we will now make games for it'

I spoke with developers from Zoink Games yesterday on a gaming fair, they showed off their incoming game Flipping Death, which ran beautifully on dat black developing kit, they were totally hyped for the system for instance.

I'm curious if guys like the Rocket League developers have any reactions to the pretty good sales numbers for the first month?

For devs it is much more important, how games similar to their own will sell. So they'll look at the sales of indies and ports. Sales of Skyrim and Minecraft will be big benchmarks on how much 3rd-parties will join the Switch-camp.

The lower development costs will also be attractive.

Graphics are such a huge part of any developers budget these days that if they can get a decent install base on a cheaper to produce for system they will make games.

For a long time now portable games (Gameboy, DS) have allowed for greater returns on anything that isn't AAA

Nintendo just gave them license to develop cheaper games and charge a higher price for them. So long Z the games are a decent length people will pay.
