Forums - Nintendo - Zelda BOTW has the most perfect scores on Metacritic.

weapon degradation should make any game ineligible for a perfect score. Same with a lives system (not in Zelda just saying). Useless features to add artificial playtime due to to to'ing and fro'ing

I like that how weapon degradation is implating in game and that's actually big part of game, because you need to constantly exploring wolrd look for better weapon, strategicly use your weapons (sstronger weapon only for strong enemies) and finding different ways to defeat your enemies outside direct combat (pushing a rock, exploding barrel, using a runes (magnesis)..

Yes Makes me want to go back to Nintendo just to revisit the complex beauty and adventure of Zelda..Nothing quite like it really.

Can someone (in a non-spoilery way) outline the difference between a shrine and say a temple in Zelda's of old? Because 12 shrines sounds like a tonne lol.

According to reviews the game has more than hundred shrines, and that sounds about right. Each shrine has basically one riddle. After solving it each shrine gives you a token, four tokens can be changed into a heart container or more endurance. So a shrine is pretty small, solvable in 10 minutes or so, but the world is full with them.

There are four dungeons (like Majora's Mask), and over one-hundred shrines. One of the dungeons I completed took me an hour to figure out and then twenty minutes to beat the boss. The other took me almost three hours and I still haven't beat the boss (after about an hour of attempts.) The overworld is much more diverse and filled with content than the traditional Zelda game, however. You can spend dozens of hours just exploring it and finding secret areas that are almost as large as dungeons in scope.

I think the initial hype surrounding GTA IV pushed review scores higher. It was clear once the dust settled that the game wasn't nearly as good as critics were stating.

There's a lot of hype for BOTW, too, so I don't think that's much of an argument.

OT: Respect to Nintendo for bringing out such a quality game.

Well the dust hasn't settled for Zelda yet. You have to give it some time.

This thread is confusing.

Did it beat a game only counting 1 platform? Or the source was wrong?

I really love it. I have actually barely played the actual game. Only 7 shrines and half the towers and four hearts. Just making my own challenges has been a blast. Doubt I will ever even beat it.

I have been playing for 30 hours, just 12 shrines and the first village. I'm enjoying the world and its sub bosses too much!

I've done 11 shrines and a bit of the story. I try to progress but see a shrine or tower and my head gets turned. At one stage I just went around farming materials and having a cooking spree. I honestly have never felt so much freedom in a game, tonight I'm going to stock up on stamina potion and climb some big mountains :)

user score is all that matters.

That's really impressive and a testament to how serious Nintendo takes their craft. Well deserved and well done. Next up for the Switch is what? Mario Kart and Super Mario Odyssey? Not bad for a Console's first year.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi
