does anyone actually know how to work the parental control app? All i want to do is log how many hours im playing Zelda for. I really liked that feature on Wii u, like i clocked in 80hours on ACIV, and to me thats amazing value, 55 hours on TPHD etc......

Yeah if those scratches are like how the 3DS was supposed to "scratch", then I'm pretty sure that's just clumsiness. It's just not true, been using my 3DS regularly since 2011 without any protection whatsoever and there's not a single mark on it. Not a spec of damage whatsoever. Really, if you're damaging it, I'm sorry, you're doing it wrong. Those protectors are a waste of money, I'm pretty confident if I get the system I'd be perfectly fine without them.

I've never used a screen protector on any device before. I had one for 3DS but took it off. I've had one for previous smart phones but also removed them after about a day. Three tablets, a PSP, Vita, DS, etc--no screen protector, no problem.

However, like my Moto Z Force with its "shatterproof" screen, I think the Switch has a plastic screen instead of glass. It is really prone to scratches, no matter how careful you are. And, unlike the DS, it doesn't have that built in protection that a clamshell offers. I'm using a screen protector. I recommend everyone do it.

The tempered glass one on my Moto Z actually makes the screen look even better. I ordered one for the Switch and hopefully it does the same. The one on my Switch right now is from Pro and it's a piece of shit. Nothing could stop it from bubbling and dust came out of nowhere!

Those pieces of plastic are the ones doing the scratching, fyi.

They're not a tight fit and are pretty loose so I question how these people were handling the unit at the time.

Dont put on the Joy-con "grip" the wrong way (yes its possible to get it on the wrong way).

watch this: (she broke one of her joy-con's) :

I can see plenty of kids accidentally doing something like this... and being left without a joycon, if their unlucky.

This is the joy-con strap, that Im talking about (below):

And yes its possible to put it on upside down, and thus it becomes stuck and might break your joy-con.

This I can agree is a problem as it's something even older people can run into, my sister did with hers earliar today when I visited, they can be removed but require some effort while you have to hold down the lock latch on the strap.

Looks like Nintendo has a new business model selling accessories for the Switch since they are very easy to break.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

There is about 1mm of space either side of the console when docked, that is not much room at all to play with when lifting out or dropping in, I'd go as far as saying damn near impossible to do casually and not scuff the edge of the plastic tabs

and that's the issue, hard plastic tabs running against a plastic screen, and if being lifted out without care, the console being tilted acts as a pivot and applies more force to the sharp edges of the plastic.

its an issue, ultimately down to a major oversight in the design process, Nintendo fucked up, pure and simple.

No the's more than enough space, I say this as a Switch owner, the's around 6mm of space is which is why the Switch is loose when inserted and can easily rock back and fourth. You have to be reckless or deliberate to scratch it in the manner claimed.

Unfortunately I too am a switch owner so I can call bullshit on that.

Here's the tiny gap either side *AFTER* installing foam strips along the outside to keep the console away from them - its a tight fit, the foam pushes the dock gap wider so without the foam the plastic tabs gap would be even smaller.

6mm my foot.
