We only saw one mode when they unveiled Splatoon as well. The developers have already announced there will be more modes. It's not like Splatoon had many of them to begin with anyway. At least this game has split-screen multiplayer. :) And the attention to detail with regards to the characters is amazing, I wish Splatoon put that much care in their character models. |
Yeah, just one mode but the squid mechanic opened up a lot of potential.
You saw in the reveal trailer squid being used to climp up walls or for faster travel.

Isn't 1v1 what almost every fighter game is about? Street fighter, Tekken, Killer Instict, Sould Blade, Pokken... |
I'm not the one saying Arms is similar to Splatoon or Overwatch, they could have similarities in style, but like you mention later they are different genres. I just think that Splatoon brought in a "fresh" idea with the squid mechanic, you can see that in the single player mode, plus the ground paint objective where everybody of all skill levels can contribute. I haven't seen that new game mechanic in Arms.

Arms is fighting game while Splatoon is 3rd person shooter game, probably will be more mods, but 1vs1 is main feature of fighting games. ARMS looks lotsa a fun, and whats more important is that game actually is very fun, every person who tried game said that. |
Maybe it's just me, since I don't like fighting games that much, but you have to agree that Splatoon's genre is a tad more popular.
