Not that I've seen, but it bombed in Japan and didn't seem to get any traction in the West. Stupid decision releasing it so close to FFXV

If Bamco made ToV with around 8 million, I think it's well within their power to make a good game without throwing money into a furnace...

Part of my concern is that as development costs go up, it's normally passed to the consumer.  And I'm not going to dictate what a developer should spend.  I just hope that the more this is moderated it would help minimize the rate of rising costs across the board.  This will help smaller developers maintain a more affordable development cycle so they can continue to keep pushing out titles to their audiences.

Which is how it should work. 

The market has demanded more everything and put the industry on an absurd specs race. Without consoles stagnating some of that race to bankruptcy, games would be $100+ by now.

But this game shouldn`t have been expensive. It`s even on Vita.

Wow this really surprises me. After the super long development time, rework of the game from one director to another, as well as other changes, I would have thought this game to need way more than 5 million sales for it to be profitable. I guess that during the design changes, they must have continued to use the majority of assets and not waste much. Which also kinda makes sense, since the game did feel a bit patchwork like that at times =p

oh, was WoFF also a project in trouble? Had no idea about that.

I like WoFF, its a different kind of game compared to mainline FF for sure but still fun to play, just a bit too easy.

 

Nope, but it helped a bit to easy the way how older fans might have felt about the frnachise in general :D A nice, more casual romp in the world of FF

I think everyone anticipated that the game would sell well, but you have to remember it was in development hell for a good ten years. For context, the entire Uncharted, Assassin's Creed, and Mass Effect series happened in the time between Versus 13's announcement and 15's release, so it had to have been enormously expensive to keep an entire team employed that long without products to sell until now.

Just think about how much money they made from other games if you take all you typed into account lol XD
