I don't expect either of them to die (permanently). Kratos is too iconic to be replaced in the franchise and killing off the kid seems a bit rote. They'll both grow through this adventure and by GOW5 Atreus will be a young man out on his own. What I wonder by that point is if and how adversarial their relationship will be. Are we talking Nightwing or Red Hood?...

Wow, you have a dark mind. However knowing Kratos he might just kill him anyway, regardless weather he breaks bad or not. |
Kratos doesn't kill people for the sake of it when they are close to him. The entire story of God of War revolves around how he regrets killing his wife and daughter and in Chains of Olympus he has emotional moments with his daughter. He also saves the life of his brother once in Ghost of Sparta. ANd in Ascension he doesn't want to kill Orkos but Orkos asks him to kill him.

Yes I can agree with this.
I definitly would prefer if the kid died and Kratos just went on a rampage again.
I know it's not original, but thats what GoW is all about.

Kratos' story has run its course as far as I'm concerned. He did what he set out to do at the end of GoW 3. Having him now go against a new set of gods for some contrived reason just feels silly to me. Maybe they can come up with a good storyline reason for Kratos to continue, but right now I don't really care about playing through the same story with a different set of deitys.

Why? Having him grow throughout the series could be awesome.
It's funny, for God of War, I want to stay as Kratos and not play as the kid.
For the Last of Us 2, I want to play as Ellie (with a few missions as Joel again).
