It's usual for game consoles in Latin America to be this expensive. In Argentina it's even worse, you have to buy the Switch on MercadoLibre or specialized game stores because there's no official Nintendo distributor here and it will cost you at least twice as much as in the USA.

Donde tienes tu preventa? En Liverpool y Amazon ya está en $9,449 que no es gran cosa pero ya es algo, yo tengo el pedido en Amazon pero lo cancelaría si encuentro un mejor precio en otra parte.

 

I've also decided to buy it at launch since it would be the first time I do that with any console and I'm actually worried about the price not getting any better. I'm also thinking about it selling out completely and being out of stock for weeks or months.

Its pretty expensive most places except the US and Japan. I guess Nintendo has to make the rest of the world pay for giving those two countries a better deal...

That's not what socialism is though. It is still capitalist, as there is private ownership of the means of production, wage labour and a market economy. What you mean is that Argentina is a social democracy, which means that it retains a capitalist system while providing a welfare state and certain restrictions to business.

That price completely sucks! I heard that yesterday morning when I stepped into my local gamer's store and they told me exactly that $10,000 MexCy. I was thinking to get the Switch at Launch mainly due to BOTW, but there's no way I'm paying that amount of money in a video game console. I've decided to get BOTW for the Wii U and wait till the Holidays to get the Switch, unless I received an unexpected mount of money which is unlikely to happen.

Not Nintendo's fault that many countries are experiencing weaker currencies. Trump's taxes will probably raise the prices for US consoles/games soon if they aren't excluded from his wrath.
