Forums - Gaming - Dragon Quest Heroes PS4,PS3,PSV vs. Switch

Dragon Quest Heroes isn't a good game to try to judge how Switch ports will look of PS4 titles, since it's on Vita and PS3 as well. For all we know it could be a rushed port to the Switch and maybe they just ported the Vita version to save time and get it out there faster and isn't fully taking advantage of what it can do.

Is there any gameplay of Steep on the Switch? I feel like a game like that would be better showing since that's only on PS4 and Xbox One.

Even then ports at launch or first few months won't be a good example either imo since developers have to get used to new hardware. I feel like we'll be able to see how Switch handles PS4 or Xbox One ports better maybe late in the Switch's first year or after.

I guess I missed that part, but I don't think that we really know the full story for the Switch quite yet.

If I'm not mistaken, FLOPs aren't an exact measurement of performance (though is the best we can probably get right now as a single number)

FLOPs are a rough ball-park number - newer architecture will outperform dated one that theoretically is on paar

if the Switch architecture supports double-rate FP16 processing this could heavily increase performance in a game which has been build with that in mind from a very early stage (obviously not something you should expect to see utilized in ports)

I don't know it this is a good indication of future ports. I mean, we know the Switch is weaker than the PS4, but it's still much more powerful than the Vita and its version of the game looks about the same.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

Yeah, this is what I said as well. Seems like the Switch version could just be a rushed port and for all we know maybe they just ported the Vita version as it would be easier and save time.

I don't think much of the launch games or launch window games will be really telling of how Switch ports will look until later on when another big third party game comes that was developed for the PS4, Xbox One, and Switch only and not last gen consoles like Dragon Quest is for PS3 and Vita, such as maybe the next Assassin's Creed or Call of Duty, then we could compare that Switch version to the PS4 and Xbox One versions.

this is one of the main reasons why Nintendo is always exclusives only for me, aside the very rare occasion I prefer a game to be portable

The reason for using the Vita version as the base is likely because of the cartridge limitations.

DQ Heroes I from what I understand is like 22GB alone, and this is supposed to be both DQ I + II.

That can't be a good thing. It is really pixelated and wow that slow down at the end.

And very limited draw distance

I think that's a product of the gif, but I can't say for sure because they gave so little footage.
