Good analysis, padib.

But you have to remember that people are scared because Nintendo is stronger now than they were with Wii U and 3DS. They have to take preemptive measures to discount Nintendo, because Nintendo has been gaining a lot of ground in public mindshare lately.

Totally agree with this. It's hillarious to see people who'd never buy a Nintendo console anyway go into overdrive creating threads, posting comments and telling everyone how the Switch will fail and how bad it is. It genuinely reminds me of the Wii days - those were the times. I even beat you in Mario Kart Wii at one point remember? :p

The Switch will have all of Nintendo's power behind it. This is not a Wii U situation where Nintendo will let one of their products die so the other can thrive. It's not a PS Vita situation, either. Nintendo is gonna push this thing like crazy and we will see more than 20 full blown first party games each year for the system. If anything this reminds me of the early Nintendo DS days: The DS didn't have much support either at launch and only a handful of games. We all know what happened next.

I also find it funny when people think this won't get 3rd party support in the long run. Where are those japanese 3rd party devs supposed to go? Develop expensive PS4 games? File for bankruptcy? Resurrect the Vita in 2018?

too true.
games like 1-2switch and arms have literally no value to me.
games like zelda and xenoblade feel like mediocre attempts at replicating successful franchises.

i guess that is why i find it soo easy to dismiss nintendo.

This. They have an extremely  narrow  and one sided view towards the Switch, that's why is pointless to debate with any of them. And that's even more funny when they put their tastes and opinions as general consesus.

Time will put them in their places

No. Switch has the price of a PS4, yet the PS4 comes with a game, way over 10 times the memory, and is still much more powerful.

When DS launched in late 2004, it had the price of a PS2, PS2 had a huge catalog of games, PS2 was way more powerful, PS2 had better multimedia functions and online service.

The DS wasn't competing with the PS2. It was being compared to the GBA and PSP.

The Switch is competing with the PS4. They will be compared.

Yeah but the PS4 has Sony games so what is your point?

The 3DS launched at 250$ and even that was overpriced to many hence why they doped the price very early.
If this is a handheld and console hybrid why is it priced like a current gen console? Thats the main issue for many people.

The current gen consoles launched at $399 (PS4) - $499 (XBox One).  You people need to stop pretending that the Switch launching at $299 is a slap in the face of people who paid $399-$499 for their consoles 3 years ago.  You want to compare someone's launch price to another console, have the integrity to mention the other's console's launch price, not compare it to 3 year's worth of price cuts later!

Nintendo games are so valuable and the best the insdustry has to offer, that they even have their own genre. How many time have we heard "I don't like Nintendo games"?

Only the best: Nintendo.

This is why the Wii U was such a huge succes.

Stopped listening to you when you called Breath of the Wild mediocre.

I think Nintendo fans, like super super core Nintendo fans, are going to be happy with it.... I know a couple people who are under that umbrella and think the Wii u is the best system out.... That's great for them.

Now when you compare what these things are made for, you are comparing a system with the most popular games GTA, FIFA, COD, etc, and a lineup that rivals the best gaming line up ever for a video game platform .... Vs a system with zelda, Mario, smash, Pokemon and others... If the thing doesn't have a 3rd party line up with GTA, with COD, it won't sell to the masses of people 70 million who bought GTA.....

Pokemon is the systems biggest selling point... 900 Pokemon and the games still sell.... We'll see what happens....

Maybe the Xbox 360 too.... But sorry, this isn't the same market.... When families who want to buy their kid a cheap $150 device that plays cheap and easily accessible games could get a nice 1080p tablet that gives them movies and free games, popular games like angry birds and Pokemon go. U could even play Mario on it too now.... Why would Samantha buy Jimmy a $300 video game exclusive tablet that also has games $50 and up that you have to carry with you, when you could get a $150 tablet and a lot of free games?

Samantha has way more options than in 2005.

Wii U has nintendo games -> Wii U failed -> Nintendo games have made the Wii U a flop.

Am I doing right?
