Forums - Gaming - Absolutely no hype for splatoon 2

I'm pretty hyped for it.

At the same time, everyone is reasonably skeptical to buy a Switch, and paid online means we have to be subscribed to play this game. (I know online is free till Fall, but still.)

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

I feel like nobody cares about Splatoon 2.... Because it looks EXACTLY like Splatoon 1.

Because it is basically Splatoon 1. They ported the Game/Engine and made new Maps / Gear.

Nintendo released Splatoon in Summer 2015 and had developed even more content after release till 2016. There is no way they could make a complete new game from scratch in just 1-1,5 years. Game development takes time.

Yep, basically the standard in any online shooter. At least Splatoon is not anual XD.

I mean, it goes a long way in making a game feel fresh as far as I am concerned. I am going to feel like I am playing the exact same game. And I think a lot of casual fans will see it and be like this is the same game and never give it a second look.

Tell me what were the main problems splatoon players found in Splatoon on the Wii U?

I don't know. I can only speak for myself. I thought it needed voice chat. One problem I had with it.

yeah, i was shocked to see it was a sequel cause it looked just like the first game. There has to be some substantial changes we don't know about but it certainly isn't immediately apparent in the trailer. Plus, paid online is gonna put some people off, guaranteed.

Kinda agree with you, it does seem like kind of a lazy sequel, some new maps and weapons, not much else new. Really does feel more like a port of the first game with new content. Considering the leaks said it was a port of the first game with new content, I'm guessing they only recently decided to call it Splatoon 2, rather than face criticism for having more Wii U ports than new games.

Also, I feel like paid online is really going to hurt Splatoon 2, unless the price is alot cheaper than the rumored $5 a month. I can't see most of the Splatoon fanbase paying $5 a month honestly.

5€ a month? Where was that rumour? That's worrying

I was looking forward to it, but there's no way i'm paying an online fee to play 1 or 2 games every year online.

Guess it's just Zelda and Fire Emblem Warriors for me so far.

I know I'm excited for Splatoon 2. New singleplayer, new weapons, new specials, new maps, more customization, hopefully new modes. Also, Splatoon 2 was announced in a stream alongside Super Mario Odyssey and Zelda BotW, those will obviously overshadow it.

Especially if Splatoon 2 has a single player campaign.

Splatoon only took 1.5 years to make iirc, they could definitely make a sequel in that timeframe
