Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

That's what you'd say of course, but actions tell a different story. I didn't say anything about letting people do whatever they want, but I am of the belief that, as long as whatever it is doesn't hurt anyone, then it's fine. And I mean actually hurt, not just butt hurt over a viewpoint different from their own.

Actions do speak and sometimes, you have to take responsibility for them. ;)

Also, your belief is false. You'll of course see it how you want, but from experience as both a mod and a user, you're wrong.

"And from my experience, you're wrong!" I can see we're gonna have a very intelligent discussion here, but I wouldn't wanna become the "center of attention" again, so I'll cut it here.

Well... literally nothing that's merely posted on the internet can "actually hurt".

I mean with the clear intent to hurt. Saying I don't like the Star Wars sequel trilogy isn't an attack on anyone. Saying anyone who dislikes the sequel trilogy must be a racist anti-SJW troll on the other hand...

This is why our committee based moderation approach works best. Based on your example, a single Star Wars fan moderator won't be able to independently and autarchicly ban for a user for a non-rule violation such as merely expressing an opinion antithetical top the moderator themselves.

No, but all the mods sure can. Also, if a mod can't separate from their personal biases then they shouldn't be a mod. You wouldn't need to form a committee if the mods could be trusted to do their job competently.

Mods are humans, not robots.

I don't have a high opinion of our species either, but humans can in fact be objective and competent.

There seems to be more severity towards trolling Sony than trolling Nintendo or Microsoft.

What a load.

Many Nintendo threads are able to stay on topic without much negativity but PS/Xbox threads are often swarmed with Nintendo users acting up.
Why do you think so many PS/Xbox users have left VGC?

I give you a pass, because I don't see you often in Nintendo threads, so you probably miss the trolling.

What's the story of Zenos permabann.
I assume it is a hell of a story because for an account that's been here since 2014.. there are no replies, posts, or threads.
So I'm guessing he got wiped.

So what did they do to get banned, and why did they get wiped?

requested if you read the mod note

I've heard stories of the times when the Nazis rounded up my family and stopped them from posting about videogames for three days. Dark times indeed.

About damn time he got thrown out.

Glad it happened after he revealed his true bigoted self.

Sorry, it's not clear from my post that I was talking about two different people.

You are right, the guy who asked you if you are dumb got addressed by you here, but his post didn't contain a mod note.

Here is the post of the guy who accused you of trolling. It was a direct response to another moderator (SpokenTruth) who reminded people of general guidelines for the thread, so it would be hard to miss for the mod team.

I can't speak for Pemalite, but if there's a personal attack aimed at myself, and it's an isolated thing, or not too over the top, and the person doesn't have a history of causing problems in this way or a similar manner, then I can be more lenient. Like not bringing it up in modchat, or not suggesting moderation, etc.

But in those cases I do consider if leaving it be would have a more negative effect on the rest of the forum.

And that is a healthy consideration.

Also because there is always a portion of forumusers that can/could take the comments of a few ''popular'' users as an example of how to act and if one of those better known users keeps biting at the authority with an habitally approuch then that behaviour could likely snowball with other users copying that negativity.
