Someone posted on Nintendo's reddit page:
Post-mortem
Let me just say that any sensible person knew this rumor was bullshit, for so many reasons, even before the hilarious prankster admitted it. For example:
- blog.goo.ne.jp is a site where anyone can create a blog (you can see the second part of the URL, "kojiparapa," indicating whose blog it is). That should be an instant gigantic red flag, but most people probably didn't bother to investigate this or didn't even know what the original source was.
- "kojiparapa" created this blog for the sole purpose of posting this rumor. It has no other posts.
- The content of the post is absolutely nothing. A wild claim whose "evidence" is a cell phone photograph of a document that ranks miles above "Nintendo Duo" in terms of both ease of faking, and absolute low-effort terrible attempt. It looks like it was printed from Microsoft Word with default settings and no knowledge of formatting settings beyond the Tab key.
- I can't read Japanese, but many Japanese users reacting to this rumor on 2channel pointed out how basic and obviously wrong the language used was for a business document.
"B-but the Amazon pre-orders..."
I'm not so sure there ever was an Amazon pre-order page. Posters in the 2ch thread suggest that the GameCube version of Twilight Princess saw a limited release and didn't have pre-orders in Japan, either. Not a single person chimed in saying they had a pre-order that was cancelled. It was all made up with no evidence whatsoever.
