Forums - Nintendo - Yooka-Laylee launches April 11th, Wii U version cancelled, most likely coming to Switch

What a joke, it would of sold better on the U than the other platforms, this type of game belongs on a Nintendo platform, it will be on the Switch but i wont be buying one.

While it does fit the Nintendo audience more lets it wouldn't have sold best on Wii U espically when the Xbox One alone has about double the amount of hardware sales and if a lot of the rumors about the Switch are true like say Pokemon Stars it will likely the Switch will likely have a bigger install base then the Wii U by the end of 2017.

Well depends, shovel knight sold better on wiiu than the other home console versions, with no new games coming it had a chance of selling really well, also depends though how many WiiU owners are going to get a Switch could of affected sales of the game so maybe thats a reason it was cancelled.

It probably had something to do with the Wii U getting it a year before the Xbox One and PS4.

1 less sale for that then.

I absolutely NEVER thought they would cancel the WiiU version.

Who was it that predicted this and we all pretty much called him crazy? I think we owe that guy an apology.

I'd also say that a Kickstarted indie game on Wii U in 2014 =/= a Kickstarted indie game on Wii U in 2017.  A lot has changed in those 3 years.

I just bumped the Stardew Valley thread because curl-6 said that Yooka Laylee is next on the chopping block.

This is also probably why we will get word of Bloodstain's Wii U cancellation before the January event I bet.
