Well you mean this game was bad, but I think disappointment should more fall to a game you were hoping to be great and it turned out to let you down, like for example Watchdogs E3 footage got people hyped, but then the game didn't deliver on that hype.

I mean if this was just a thread on worst games it would be filled with non functional Atari 2600 software haha :)

the last 2 games of lunar were great. I had too much expectation :'))

Ah okay so you were HYPE mode for the DS Lunar, damn shame when a series you love lets you down so badly.

Yoshi's Story, because my expectations were so high after Yoshi's Island. Instead we got a dull, simple, uninspired game that was just boring. Looked pretty though.

"Honorable Mentions" go to the DS Zelda games for their abysmal control method.

Halo Reach, after Halo 3 I was expecting another great Halo game but.... well we got Reach.

Harvest Moon Grand Bazaar

I've always been a fan of Harvest Moon games, and I liked the other DS games prior to it.. I've played ToTT prior and wanted to see what Grand Bazaar had to offer and I really don't like the changes they did to the game.. barely played it at all

I'll keep it short, cause I don't feel like writing an essay again.

Tales of Symphonia 2 Dawn of the New World, most of my dissapointment comes from the fact that it has the Symphonia name on it. Even having the Tales of name  irks me quite a bit. If it was just a generic anime type RPG I probably wouldn't care much for it, but no, it had to call itself a direct sequel to one of my favorite games of all time and one of my most treasured games since my childhood.

Basically it screws up the world and its concepts, ruins the great ending of the first game (Symphonia was one of those titles that didn't need a sequel), having a pretty bad story on its own, the Symphonia cast is just there, it could have been just a story of Emil and Marta (and even then, these 2 are quite the mediocre characters) and it could have been just fine, but no it has to stick the Symphonia cast in there and butcher Lloyd's character. on a more subjective note, the music is terrible, 1 or 2 original tracks there that I liked, the rest are forgettable or terrible or very generic remixes of tunes from the first game, gameplay while somewhat improved (it did came after Symphonia and Abyss) feels more slow, is not as fluid when it comes to the combat.

I could rant on and on but that is pretty much the basics of my dissapointment with this title.

Yeah, this one irked me too. I think I'd be more receptive if it was a new IP...but as a sequel, it was just awful. The characters were stupidly inconsisent, the story completely lacked focus, and like you said, and the fact that it just screwed with all the world-building from the first game. It had a few strong moments (yeah the ship scene won me over), but every time I think about evil Lloyd I just throw up in my mouth.

Past that...the first Ace Attorney game was a dissapointment to me, particularly the last case. I loved certain parts of the game, but other parts had me beating my head against the wall. I think my biggest problem was that it didn't have enough gameplay to feel like a game, but the few gameplay sections kept me from truly being immersed in the story. Every time something interesting starting happening, I had to go back and investigate old areas to find new conversation scenes to advance the story, rather than watch it unfold naturally.

This is probably on me though, and realizing the visual novel genre just really isn't for me. If I can't get into the next game I might just drop the genre altogether...no shame in admitting that I can't appreciate every type of game out there.

Mario Sunshine. Was hyped up as Super Mario World and Mario 64 into one game got me mega hyped. What we got felt off and never cared for it.

Mario Kart Double Dash. Honestly this is where the series fell off for me. Wii one sucked and 7 sucked but thankfully 8 was fantastic.

TMNT Platinum. I am  massive TMNT fan and a huge PG fan but Activision ruined this game. Funny just as Transformers released I said PG should make a TMNT game. Oh boy.

Mighty No 9. I put a bunch of money in this game to fund it.

Starfox Assault. Namco plus Starfox!? YES!..wait...NO! NO! NO!

Sonic 06. Sonic in HD and looked like Sonic Adventure 3...,oar like Sanic Misadventure amirite???!!!!!!!

Okamiden. I don't hate the game it's just kinda blah. If Okami was a animated Disney film then Okamiden was the straight to home video sequel.

Grandia III. Square put themselves in this game in tone and fucked over the game. Gone is the spirit of the first 2 main games.

Sonic Heroes. JUst don't get me started on this POS.

Uncanny X-Men (NES)

- Chose it at the store and didn't have fun with it

Deadly Tower (NES)

- Rented for a sleep over. I only played it that night and I remember vividly how it was. Only something terrible would sear my memory. The cover looked amazing and the title too.

Metroid Hunters (DS)

- Favorite franchise and as a starved fan I wanted it to be good. Lots of people like it. I'm not among them.

Fable (Xbox)

- All the bullshit stained a good game. It was very good but expectations ruined it for me.

Might and Magic Dark Messiah (360)

- Pretty visuals couldn't save this boring game. I paid 60 bucks and tried to return it the same day.. they would only let me trade it in for $15.

The Winner: Money, hopes, regrets... these are not as important as a successful sleepover.

Wow, 5 pages in and no one has said it...

Sean Murray lives in No Man's Sky:

Everything about the game was disappointing:

- gameplay
- quality of build
- Grind
- Sony's response
- HG response

Just Cause 3:

I loved JC2, but JC3 was such a big copy and paste job, the entire game felt like a rinse and repeat formula and the most boring kind.

Bayonetta 2:

I'm not saying it's a bad game, I'm saying it was disappointing compared to the original.

- It felt rushed and shorter
- The original had an amazing space Harrier section with music and all
- Game felt shorter

The Order 1886:

- Lack of gameplay
- Werewolf fights hugely disappointing
- When shit got interesting the game ended

Ballz:

Touted as the first 3D fighting game on consoles, released on the Mega Drive with lots of hype. The game was a huge pile of balls. You couldn't tell one fighter apart from the other during much of the fights. Balls everywhere as far as the eyes could see.

GTA:

Don't matter which one, they all bored me to death with their second rate combat, driving, shooting and platforming mechanics. Side quests are usually shite mostly and graphics are so so. Most overrated franchise ever.

FF XIII, by a lightyear. For too many reasons to go into detail again - but the most notable two are completely unlikeable (...well, more like hateable) characters and repetitive, boring, oversimplified gameplay.

Splatoon. Bought it at launch, and not enough content for $80 (I live in Canada :P).

Not saying it's a bad game, but the lack of much content at launch REALLY disappointed me.
