Probably won't be much more.

It's a fact Xbox lost part of their 360 user base to the PS4 at the start of this current gen I do recall someone estimating along the lines that 1/3 on PS4 owners were new who moved over from the Xbox 360 > PS4 at launch if not we all know a lot moved over to PS4 anyway. When the Scorpio releases it will of been 3-4 years since this group made the switch to PS4 and the Scorpio could be what's needed to bring them back into the Xbox eco-system as well as attract completely new users in to Xbox.
Xbox has greatly improved from the shambles of a reveal which caused them massive damage from both consumers and the mass media and they have spent the past 3 years working on fixing it and providing great features with constant updates and a solid line up of games which they will be taking this positive momentum into the Scorpio with a console fully focused on gaming with no specs or price going into gimmicks or forcing a $100 Kinect onto everyone.
In a years time the claimed 6tf could well be possible for the Scorpio with a $399($449 at the highest imo) and Scorpio will offer the entire library of X1 games as well as plenty of 360 games via BC whilst also future proofing you to at least another 4-5 years of Xbox content and it may be a very tempting buy for not only the Xbox fan base but for people who skipped the One in favour of the PS4 along with people who have never owned a Xbox before.

I can definitely see different skus at different prices for (500gb, 1TB, 2TB).
Praise the One.
Considering the only arguable downside to the Xbox One is it's lack of power, I really don't see any reason why the Scorpio wont be a huge success. Well, assuming they don't launch it at $599. If they can get this machine out next fall at around $400, I think it's going to surprise (and anger) a lot of people. Microsoft just can't make the same mistakes Sony has with the PS4 Pro.
Yeah, Pachter is always wrong, so let's take every of his predictions as proof for the opposite... http://nintendotoday.com/pachter-nintendo-wii-u-comment/
P.S.: I don't think that Scorpio will be a failure. Microsoft will probably go for the $399 price tag which seem to be accepted for a powerful home console by many people.
| Bandorr said: Pachter has two modes. Obvious, and oblivious. Where is either states something that is obvious, or states something that will never come true. Depending on the price of the Scorpio - I do think it will have huge problems. Imagine if the Scorpio comes in at $450, and the slim/xbox S are $250. Along with the pro being $350 (or lower). So in this case I think Pachter is going the more obvious route. It costing more will cause problems. |
i don't see anything obvious about what you are saying... If it's a high end product at high price MS is obviously not trying to sell it at mid range level like any other console for that the S will be there.... It's actually a sound strategy for gamers of both XB and PS... You are a PS4 gamer you buy a pro and when the Scorpio gets out you can get a one S on the cheap for the exclusives... You are an XBox one classic owner you can either upgrade next year for the Scorpio which me and a lot of fan will do... If you are impatient you can go for the S now if you are broke for the S then... If you mean pachter is in phase with MS expectation so he is obvious ok... Then I agree...

I'd wager that library is a way bigger factor here than power. I kinda doubt that the Scorpio will sell any more than the X1. Don't forget that to be a bigger success it has to convince people who already planned to get a PS4 to get an Xbox instead. Lst time I checked console buyers aren't really after power. People who actually care about that power might as well get a PC since there is barely any difference between that and an Xbox now. So which demographic do you think the Scorpio will capture besides people who already are Xbox fans?

So now power isn't a factor anymore? What about the 3 straight years of 50% more power? 720/900p vs 1080p? That goes out the window now that Sony will be the weaker of the 2?
When the PS4 launched it's library was embarrassing.
The reason why I (and I'm sure many others) switched from Xbox to PlayStation at the launch of this new generation wasn't because of the library, it was because the multiplatform games all looked and preformed better on Sony's console and they still do.
I bought a PS4 Pro on launch day for the same reason.
The Scorpio gives people like me, and many others, a reason to go back to Microsoft and experience the games we've missed over the past 4 years. That alone I think will make the Scorpio a successful console (As long as they don't price it out of the market).
I know that this is a very anti Xbox forum, but let's be real here. If the PS4 had been 50% weaker than the Xbox One at launch, things would have played out very, very differently.
The success of scorpio will depend of MS expectations to it. The console will sell accordingly to what it is intended, a premium console for a very specific fanbase. If you aren't a xbox hardcore fan but still want to play some xbox games, you are better off with the xb1 slim.

Yes, X1 would be a few millions closer to PS4.
Launch games for a Playstation are irrelevant because people know how long and in what quantity and quality they will support their console with games. They've proven that with 3 consoles before the PS4 and gathered a deserved fan following. Last gen the X360 had everything going for it, earlier start, stronger, cheaper, great exclusives and yet they still couldn't match the PS3 in sales because it fizzled out faster while the PS3 pumped out quality exclusives until the end.
Xbox is the weaker brand and even if the roles of power were reversed it would be trailing by now.
Let's say X1 sold 30m units by the time Scorpio comes out while PS4 will be close to 60. What kind of success do you expect from the Scorpio. Do you really think it alone will b e selling another 30m because suddenly people don't want to play with their PS4s anymore? You do know that dual console ownership isn't really a thing, right? Especially when the consoles are so similar.
This forum might be anti Xbox but at least it's not anti reality.
