So now power isn't a factor anymore? What about the 3 straight years of 50% more power? 720/900p vs 1080p? That goes out the window now that Sony will be the weaker of the 2? When the PS4 launched it's library was embarrassing. The reason why I (and I'm sure many others) switched from Xbox to PlayStation at the launch of this new generation wasn't because of the library, it was because the multiplatform games all looked and preformed better on Sony's console and they still do. I bought a PS4 Pro on launch day for the same reason. The Scorpio gives people like me, and many others, a reason to go back to Microsoft and experience the games we've missed over the past 4 years. That alone I think will make the Scorpio a successful console (As long as they don't price it out of the market).
I know that this is a very anti Xbox forum, but let's be real here. If the PS4 had been 50% weaker than the Xbox One at launch, things would have played out very, very differently. |
Yes, X1 would be a few millions closer to PS4.
Launch games for a Playstation are irrelevant because people know how long and in what quantity and quality they will support their console with games. They've proven that with 3 consoles before the PS4 and gathered a deserved fan following. Last gen the X360 had everything going for it, earlier start, stronger, cheaper, great exclusives and yet they still couldn't match the PS3 in sales because it fizzled out faster while the PS3 pumped out quality exclusives until the end.
Xbox is the weaker brand and even if the roles of power were reversed it would be trailing by now.
Let's say X1 sold 30m units by the time Scorpio comes out while PS4 will be close to 60. What kind of success do you expect from the Scorpio. Do you really think it alone will b e selling another 30m because suddenly people don't want to play with their PS4s anymore? You do know that dual console ownership isn't really a thing, right? Especially when the consoles are so similar.
This forum might be anti Xbox but at least it's not anti reality.
