Forums - Nintendo - Digital Foundry Retro: Metroid Prime

It's amazing how Metroid Prime managed to keep such a smooth framerate back in the day. Truly a mindblowing game for its time.

Still in my GOAT Top-5.

Still my fave Metroid

Probably it was the game which has impressed me the most graphically.

It is absolutely insane the level of polygonal detail this game pushed at 60fps. And virtually locked at 60.

Artistically is still looks amazing with the choice of colors, effects, level design, texture style and general atmosphere.

Such a masterpiece. The best GCN exclusive (I'd still rank RE4 slightly higher) and the best game of 2002.

Now I kind of want to replay it :)

You know, looking at this game, this and Prime 2 are probably 2 out of only a handful of games from the sixth gen that you could remaster almost purely via retexturing and new lighting and effects and still have dang good looking game. The amount of polygons on display for the time period is mind blowing and because they prioditized that so heavily, you wouldn't even need to tiuch it in most areas.

still looks mindblowing on a decent crt tv

Keiner kann ihn bremsen, keiner macht ihm was vor. Immer der richtige Schuss, immer zur richtigen Zeit. Superfussball, Fairer Fussball. Er ist unser Torschützenkönig und Held.

The oldest 3D game in existence that can be played today and still feels like a modern, polished, impressive experience.
