The old rumors where 3-4 times the power of the Wii U.

Pretty sure when its docked it ll be more powerfull than the Wii U.

Im guessing that means it turns out to be slightly less than half the Xbox One S, in terms of performance.

So multiplats will run lesser resolutions than the do on the normal Xbox One, on the Switch.

Well, at least it's reasonably more powerful than Wii U, so it's still an increase. But half of the XB1S? That's bad. I mean, as a portable that freaking amazing, but as a console it's pretty underwhelming. I wonder how we're going to play multiplat games at the TV... at this rate, they'd have would run at 540p? Hopefully not.

Still crossing my fingers that it will be at least close to XB1. I know it's asking a lot for a hybrid, but I'm still rooting for that. :c

Honestly, if Nintendo can't get it to be as strong as the PS4 when 'docked', then they shouldn't call it 'primarily' a home console because the lack of power when you compare it to consoles that were considered obselete three years ago just makes the NS look like a big disappointment regardless of its portability.  At the same time, I also know why they don't want to advertise it as a handheld since they're still trying to sell the 3DS.

720p/1080p is fine for a device that size.

3DS was 240p and resource intensive Vita games were often 480p.

But isn't the dock just to power/charge the thing? That's what I got from this news. Maybe I'm reading it wrong? O.o

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

There are rumors that it works at full power when docked while only using a portion of its power when in handheld mode to conserve battery life.

I agree and disagree with you. Nintendo should not call it a home console because it isn't one; not because of its technical power.

There will be a split amongst gamers as to what this console is and subsequently, how the console is viewed:

1) It is an underwhelming home console that can be taken on the go.

2) It is a powerful hand held that can be hooked up to a television.

I believe, based on the philosophy given thus far, that option 2 is correct. Because of this, I am starting to come to terms with, and come around to the idea of, this console.

Just as I assumed.

Chargeing, cables to hook up to TV, and maybe a cooling fan blowing air to cool the tablet when its docked.

That means the dock part is really cheap.

The Controll unit that you clip on those side controls from the tablet looks cheap too.

I hope this means the intire thing goes for 249$.

Best way to guess the price...

What amount does the Nvidia Shield retail for?

hey if the specs are awesome and the graphics/performance equally wonderful on the go or on the TV then who cares?

although I am sort of hoping their will be some sort of boost attachment to buy at some point to potentially expand the abillity of the system for future games in the years to come (third party will need it)

If the dock doesn't improve processing power, then it's pretty much confirmed that we are not going to see a considerable improvement over Wii U graphically speaking.

The portable form they showed is too small to fit a chipset with much more juice than Wii U has.

No, having a device that can only be played at home on the TV is...

A SCD would only work at home, when hooked to the TV, hence home console.

Right now it's just a tablet & any tablet does what the Switch does except playing Nintendo games...

Not sure why it's not a home console. Well, my definition of a home console is different, probably. But if you can play with your family/friends, on a TV, with multiple controllers is a home console to me. It's also portable which is a neat plus.

It's as much of a home console as whatever handheld had a TV out - PSP?

So all the power is in that little tablet? Either there's a lot of power compressed in there, or it's gonna be a lil on the weak side. Well, it'll run Zelda, so that's cool.
