On the french Nintendo site it says:

"Rendez-vous sur http://www.nintendo.fr à 16:00 pour découvrir la nouvelle console de salon de Nintendo, connue sous le nom de code NX. Cette vidéo de présentation sera un avant-goût des informations qui vous serons révélées sur la console ultérieurement."

http://www.nintendo.fr/News/2016/Octobre/Premiere-presentation-de-la-NX-aujourd-hui-a-16-00-1148672.html

"Console de salon" means home console, so...

So hybrid. ;)

No not hybrid, unless it has any additional GPU in the dock, which it doesn't look like, just a fuggly tablet that looks like a Garmin GPS, with standard tablet feature: you can hook it up to your TV & you can connect controllers to it, any tablet has been doing that for half a decade!

If this was 3DS replacement it would be good, as a Home Console replacement it's just abyssally underwhelming...

Since I've been playing less & less on my 3DS & I have my Wii U to play Zelda BOTW, I can't imagine myself picking this up anytime soon. I know I'm not the only Nintendo fan thinking this way.

People owning Nintendo stock, time to sell & hastily!!!

Well that's pretty telling. Everyone praying for it not to be a tablet hybrid can unclinch their butts now.

Technically this means just that it's going to be aimed at home use, not that it won't have other use as well.

And this is why we care about technicalities.

So it ain't a tablet hybrid for sure?

Not for sure. We're still waiting to learn what's in that docking station before we can make any declarations. Or at least some of us.

Actually it seems that more power in dock, dock is pretty big, its assumed that handheld is 720p but when you play on TV than its 1080p. I didnt know that you could hook tablet on TV and play local multiplayer on it. Lets be real, Switch act like real home console and in same time can be used like real handheld, so that means hybrid of handheld and home console.

To sell stock!? Switch can be huge hit.

I can play local multiplayer with my GameBoy, I need a cable but I've been doing it since the 90's, with the DS it enable more than 2 players & no cable needed, so it's hardly a new or revolutionary feature...

If I had Nintendo stock, I would have sold it the minute after the reveal, I can't see it selling more than 40M, my prediction is 35/40M lifetime sales... when you come from 250M sales (Wii+DS) then drop to 75M sales (3DS+ Wii U), I can't see this Switch doing anything good to Nintendo, unless it's 200$ & it's really, really well & heavily marketed!

I can hear from here the Champagne popping at Sony & MS headquarters!!! MS must be already counting $$ to make an offer on Nintendo in a few years...

Really, you can play local multiplayer with just one GameBoy unit, I didn't know that.

For now all about Switch is very promising,  if Switch right price and Nintendo done marketing OK, it will do very well.

My bad, you can do local multiplayer with 1 Switch, even if it cramps your hands after 5min of gaming so tiny are the controllers even tinier than NES, which I didn't like because they were so darn small & made my hands cramp up so easilly.

I can't imagine this Switch doing anything good to Nintendo.

I won't play it on the go, it does not fit my pocket & to be honest since I don't game on the go as often as I use to, I only play 3DS at home or when I travel by plane, so why would I pay for a screen, a battery & expensive miniaturised underpowered Mobile components on my Home console???

At least with the Wii U I can use the gamepad screen, not here, so it's useless, the whole portability of this thing is useless...

A case of Jack of some (not all) trades, master of none, sadly...

You can't really know that for sure, Nintendo controllers are usually very comfortable.

Nothing doesn't seems useless about Switch, its basicly concept play your games like you want and where you want (on TV, on Go, alone, local multiplayer, online multiplayer), use Switch like real home console or like real handheld.
