Add another million from Germany wich is likely and more 300k from Digital in the UK and you are already closing in on 3m only in 2 Countries.

hey! Don't judge them for not buying games that don't suit with their sport obsession. They are responsible for giving the game industry a health look. But I bet they will buy GTAV or COD while waiting for the next FIFA, because spending more than $300 on a console to be a fifabox is a huge waste of money, even for some of these guys.
We reap what we sow
Sports games have always been the most boring genre imo. It's the same game since, what? Ever? XD I think sports games with different elements to them (Mario spin offs have done this well) makes them interesting. But sports sims like this make me shake my head

What a bunch of morons buying FIFA.
I have 35 hours on FIFA 17 on PC as we speak.
And playing right now in the background while I browse...
Fifa 17 on ps4 will probably pass 10m retail only. Almost certainly will pass that with digital.
This edition looks like it will grow in europe this year and definitely in Japan. Overall it will probably grow across Asia too.
But I think the United States market will be very impressive growth. Soccer is really growing fast there and this should be represented with its sales.

Why are these people buying the same game every year albeit with some minor tweaks and the game is named after one of the most corrupt organisations in all of sport. |
You almost got me with this comment^^ this is sarcasm right?

Naaah football is the most popular sport in the World and also the most popular sportsgame in the World and just because other Games/Genres arent that popular or sell millions we Fifabuyer are a shame for you!? Really?? Im buying Fifa every year since Fifa 14 and guess what im having a lot of fun with it just like a lot of friends and millions around the World. Another example, i love the F1-Series or One Piece Games, but just because they dont sell crazy Millions like Fifa or other Games i should be mad or angry!? some of you gotta be kiddin me!? It would be awesome if One Piece or F1 sell like Fifa, Cod etc. ! But no its just a Fact more people love/buy Fifa, Cod, BF and if thats the case, thats fine. At the end of the day no matter what Game i buy and how many sales it will have, as long as i or you enjoy it thats all what should matter. But im gettin pissed when some People attack others just because they buy a Game (yearly) and have fun with it. And btw Fifa is NOT the same Game every year, of course its always 11 vs 11, 2 Goals and the one with more Goals wins but thats the same for shooter, racing and everything. You have a Gun and shoot bullets out of it or you are on a track with a car and drive !!! And EA did a lot of changes the last 2 years and i wouldnt want to play like the Fifa from a few years ago because its NOT the same and it improved a lot in my opinion. The Journey, a lot of changes in Ultimate Team and also the Gameplay is different but you dont know that if you dont play it. I had to get this opinion out, when i see such comments on twitter, youtube i dont care but now here, i needed to get this out and sorry if my English, Grammar sucks. |
at least one decent commet here, reading some comments here is really ............
And every year is the "PES can beat FIFA this time" year :D
(same thing in a few weeks/months for CoD/BF1 incoming...)
I'm not a sports fan. But if I were to get into one on a gaming console, it will be either hockey or soccer.

I understand that completely since I follow both football and competetive fighting games on a weekly basis, and watch them on stream. I go out to see my favorite team live every once in a while as well. But that's a premium experience. And while the game doesn't change, the players competing, and the outcome of the match is what keeps things exciting. I wouldn't equate that to buying the game, but more like something extra on top of it. |
I'm pretty sure that EA pays more for a single FIFA game as most devs do for their $60 games so that your question is pretty irrelevant talking about FIFA. They have to have many people following football and giving input to adjust all the player data. They have to pay for licenses which will probably cost a ton, they design new jersey for a crazy amount of teams and so on...
It's not as if EA does get the licenses for free and if they randomly throw numbers on player ratings (well, sometimes it seems like it
) and if they change nothing except for the numbers.
It's not as if EA has only 3 people working 10 hours a week on FIFA. This is simply not true, they have big teams working as much as those working on other games.
I'm sure that FIFA games are not cheap to produce. That they would be probably profitable with 5m instead of 20m sales may be true but that's the same with every game which does sell so much so that you could tell every dev to sell the game for half the price if they know it will sell like 15m+
Other games may change more visibly but that doesn't mean that more hours of dev time went into them (not talking about games with 200 people working 3 years on them but average sized games)
If one of the next FIFA games will show that only a small team put some hours into it then we can speak about it but I don't see that the last years .
