Forums - Nintendo - First look at NX? (Mock-up)

Looks like one of those Chinese knock-offs.

Not any more than Sony or MS.

Uh, yes, modern Nintendo is basically built off the foundation of their time as a toy company:

And that's not a knock or anything to be ashamed of. Yes, Nintendo has the roots of a toy company, this is evident in their design philosophy to this day. And it's a large part of what makes them unique from Sony/MS. Just like very clearly you can see the influence of being an electronics brand has on the Playstation line.

Well I stand corrected. Never seen those before. I thought they only did playing cards.

Nope. Nintendo did everything. They also ran a taxi company, sold instant rice and vacuums door to door, and they ran a string of love hotels.

I think Ive heard of the love hotels, but the other stuff is news to me.

Looks straight up awful.

Doesn't look portable. That setup looks like something you see at PAX. Not likely.

What's "unportable" about it? This is not going to be a pocket device any way it's sliced, but that doesn't mean it's not portable.

More people carry around a tablet sized device than a 3DS or Vita.

I'd be quite happy to play Zelda: BotW in that form factor, especially on a long flight. If this is the size of an iPad Mini but the thickness of the PSVita (Gen 1), I'd be quite pleased with that.

You know what I  meant. Don't execute me just because I forgot to start with "in my opinion" and missed the word "too" before "portable".

I'm just curious, would you consider an iPad mini to be unportable though?

Too bad they stopped doing that, image Reggie coming to your door...

OT: Just, no. I have already mentioned in a couple of other threads what a terrible mess this whole idea would be. If this concept of this do-it-yourself handheld would turn out to be true, I don't believe it will, but if it does, that would be an extremely difficult sell to me.
