Forums - Gaming - The Iphone 7 is the biggest joke I have ever seen, cost as much as two PS4 Pros, no headphone-jack

It just feel like old technology..

Apple is facing accusations that it copied Chinese innovations in the iPhone 7. Indeed, China’s smartphone manufacturers released dual-camera systems and handsets without headphone jacks long before Apple did. And the stickers and animations that Apple is adding to iMessage look like a direct knockoff from China’s WeChat. This is quite a twist from the days when Apple accused the Chinese of copying its inventions. The reality is that America’s most innovative company is no longer the world’s most innovative company.

Always thought I message ripped off Wechat.

It's a shame they can get away with it because almost no one uses we chat in the us

Perceived value rules the world, it's what drives consumer electronics. How the perceived value can be so high is beyond me though.

Thats just it.... the hardware inside apple usually isnt all that impressive, compaired to what they charge for it.

What your paying for is the "brand" & "status symbol" and maybe your own preferance of the software OS.

I wouldnt say perceived value is high with apple.

If you buy their products you know your getting f***'ed price wise, you do it anyways.

I think we're in agreement, perceived value is the value a product is afforded through marketing, "it" factor and overall popularity. Then there's actual value and market value. The actual value of an iPhone is far below both the market value and perceived value.

Like you said; the hardware is nothing special, the same goes for Mac, they sport underclocked Intel processors and ditto graphics cards, medicore RAM, decent disc drives and great displays. Name and brand are amon the chief factors in perceived value, Apple have somehow managed to make a lot of people think that their goods are the shit. God job Apple, poor job consumers who enable the most ludicrous profit margins in the industry.

Its a mix of Hardware and Software. Because Apple have to deal with fewer (way fewer) hardware setups, they can better optimize software. And because they own their OS their hardware integration is still best in class, and Android + Windows haven't been able to quite replicate their ecosystem. Maybe they could, if manufacturers and OS owners played nicer with each other.

Many console gamers say ease of use and the fact that you don't have to spend hours solving problems make consoles better than PC. Well, if you buy Apple, you can be sure that your shiny new phone will be perfectly compatible with your Mac/Ipad/Whatever. No worries.

I use Android don't get me wrong, but I'm not going to blind myself to the merits Apple products have.

Clearly for the price you get more juice of this Play Station Four Pro but the main issue with the Play Station Four Pro tho is that it is freaking hot in the pocket! :)

How can you even compare the 2? :)

The bottom line though is the iPhone 7 is the best performing phone on the market.

It raped the Samsung Note 7 in that speed test, that was just pure destruction.

People can say they don't like paying the premium, but don't tell me this is not a high end phone.

Whether people want to give them credit for it or not, Apple is absolutely on the bleeding edge of mobile chip technology, their SoCs are killing it. The Apple A10 is beast, it's the PS4 of smartphone chips.

And while Apple is taking a lot of shit for removing the headphone jack the A10 die is 20% bigger than the A9 ... which means they're not just dicking around with that extra space. You're getting an incredibly powerful mobile processor because they'd eliminated a lot of space hogs inside the design.

Even the price is not that ridiculous, an unlocked Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge is $660 for 32GB model, iPhone 7 32GB is $769, but it has a better processor, better battery life, and a better camera. Edge S7 has a higher resolution screen but the new iPhone closes that gap with a wider color gamut and 25% brighter screen over the iPhone 6S.

Is it rue than in iPhone regularly only costs 10-20 dollars to make?

No that's a lie, but apple makes a shit ton of profit per unit sold none the less. It costs 200 to 250 dollar to make an IPhone.

No it is not a lie. I said making one, as in building it cost $5 to $10.

The components, is what adds up to $219.80

We are comparing a phone to a console?

Pocky Lover Boy!

I'd rather have an iPhone 7 than 2 PS4 Pros. PS4 Pros don't even have a cartridge slot, what kind of bullshit is that?

In all seriousness though, this sort of complaint is silly. iPhone is a mobile phone, not a gaming console, it's applications and capabilities are well beyond the scope of the PS4. 800$ USD is a standard price for a high end phone, it's actually on the lower end of the high end price spectrum. When it comes to mobile phones, carriers generally subsidize the price of the phone, so he customer does not pay the full price. It is like the Samsung Galaxy S7: even though the price is small when you buy it at the store, if you bought it without a contract on EBay, it would cost you between EUR 599 and 769, which is about 800 to 1000 USD.

It also DOES does have a headphone jack, it uses a newer technology, and is backwards compatible through the adapter it comes with. It's similar to how some computers don't use the old monitor pin connected anymore, you can still use hose old monitors, you just use an adapter instead. Headphones have been moving away from that kind of technology for a while as well, all of mine have USB connectors.

I don't know what country your from, but the way you said it, most people would assume that you meant the cost to purchase the components. Don't act like the guy that responded to you is stupid. He only answered the question like he should have. Also, you never provided a source. Also, who the hell cares about how much money it costs to literally put together? Why does that mean anything?

I bet the Wii U would sell more than 15M LTD by the end of 2015. He bet it would sell less. I lost.

How good is the PS4P at making phone calls? Does it hit native 4G or is it 2G upscaled?
