Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Xbox One S has trouble playing some 4k Blu-ray movies

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7UOW3x5CjpA

XBox One S seems to have no problem running The Revenant here.

I have it and have had no problems running any movies either, tried Deadpool, Batman Vs. Superman, and The Revenant, no issues.

Could be some problems with regional discs, but that stuff would be easy enough to fix via a firmware patch.

Ugh, I was about to pull the trigger and change my OG Xbox One for an Xbox One S for it's 4k Blu-ray playback but it sounds like they are having problems playing certain movies.

The Revenant, Star Trek Into Darkness, Lucy, Deadpool are among 4k discs that won't play.

Keep reading the comments on your link... MS knows about the issue and some people offer help...

That's too bad, because as I've learned right after the PS4 Pro presentation, 4k bluray is really important for gaming consoles. Because reasons...

Don't veer the thread in this direction.

Nothing to say about Teeqoz comment?

Weird, played Deadpool on my One S and it worked fine for me. Could be a tv issue.

Edit: This was like last month, not sure if things have changed.

Good to know. I never used my consoles to play movies or ever cared about them, but I chose the UUHD version of The Revenant to show case my new TV.

Thanks.  Looks like The Revenant is a Fox movie, and most of the reported problems were on Universal movies, and some Paramount movies.

I ended up ordering the XB1S in a good deal from Walmart, so I'll check some of those when I get it.

My 8th gen collection

I have 12 4k UHD Blu-rays and haven't had any of them give me a problem. Just watched the Lego movie tonight and no problem playing. It's insane how good HDR makes the picture pop. And The Revenant is a must own if you have a 4k TV. Simply Amazing.

I own Deadpool, The Revenant, and Star Trek Into Darkness on 4K UHD, and haven't had a problem with any of them on my One S.
