Did you play monster hunter once in your life ?
I'm serious.
I don't know any monster hunter with open-world or dialogue tree, or even a so-so story.

Horizon is my number 1 most wanted game.
I loved the story, dialogue and side quests in Fallout: New Vegas so my expectations are high as Horizon has the same writer.
Gameplay and graphics look top notch
Edit: I see we have a new quote to add to the long list of awful PlayStation experiences. And yet again from a "worried" Nintendo fan.
Horizon: Zero Dawn: "It's basically Monter Hunter"
Uncharted 4: "It's just a movie"
Gran Turismo Sport: "Looks like a PS2 game"
Days Gone: "Another mindless zombie game"
God of War: "Such a disappointment"
The Last Guardian: "Looks super boring"
Death Stranding: "Kojima is so overhyped"
Resident Evil 7: "Nothing more than a cheap early access indie horror"
PS4 exclusive lineup: "No variety"
Every PS4 game at E3 ran on standard PS4: "I've seen the games, so it's not hard to believe"
PS4 game announced with a specific release date and later delayed: "Why the fuck do they give us a release date they can't keep. Typical Sony"
PS4 game announced without a specific release date: "No release date. Lol that's pathetic"

Yeah. Monster Hunter is like a poor man's Horizon, I get what you mean.

A good list, summarizes my opinions on many games
I'd add an example of a "walking simulator" for the list to be complete.

Haha that list is brilliant. It should be titled #PS4KAZNOGAMES
OT: Horizon looks incredible. I hope it's story is good because guerrilla is clearly checking all the other boxes.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fkg5UVTsKCE there are different locations/enviroments, forests, deserts, valley's, small tribal towns, large tribal towns, snowy mountains and old anceint cities over come by nature. the gameplay was part of a side quest. |
the city looks great hopefully we can go there! that side quest is a battle, like all the gameplay they've shown so far. I wanna see side quests with depth and what types of activities the world has to offer.

I'm hoping it has some mild puzzle elements, whether it is in the form of tracking and investigating or to unlock ruins and secret passages.
That's the only thing that separates most sandbox games. Outside of the baby mission, I can't remember any questions that didn't have combat as it's main gameplay element. Same goes for FO4 and Skyrim. Zelda seems to be the only exception with its mild puzzle elements where you have to move things around, flick certain switches, use certain elements etc.
The only game that's managed to capture that that I can think of are the old Rare platformers and Darksiders 1&2.

I dont even know how to respond to that. I have seen that it has georgeous graphics and Ive seen the fighting mechanics. Now I just need to see the other aspects they are promising. |
This game looks amazing. No need to downplay it if you aren't following and don't know much about it.
They wouldn't lie about the game being open world. Is that really so hard for you to believe? Also why would they show everything in the open world, that would leave nothing for you to see yourself when playing the game.
It looks nothing like Monster Hunter, looks so much better. Monster Hunter games are crap in my opinion. Even the fighting mechanics look better in this.

Where are the quotes from the No Mans Sky "worriers"?...
That guy playing sucked.
We know the combat is solid, I hope they start to show more variety and showcase some of the story/RPG elements soon. The game needs a good story and imho GG is yet to ever deliver one.
