the amazing thing is Sony's biggest hit being a film with possibly a tiny budget and barely any marketing making them the most money. They made over 500 million just from China.

What movie is that?

It's not a Sony Pictures its a Chinese movie that was distrubuted outside China by Sony Pictures.

Around the Network

Actually its the third biggest flop both The BFG and Gods of Egypt bombed harder.  The BFG bombing that hard is somewhat surprising but maybe not since the only movie based on a Roland Dahl book that was profitable at the box office was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.  Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory became profitable at the box office with its 1996 re-release.

OK, I guess at this point in time it is safe to say, that the new Ghostbuster (2016) movie is a flop.
From the $400 million it needs to make it even, it just collected Worldwide: $179,511,936.

I suppose it's stupid to say that this movie ruined your childhood, because nothing can do that. But this movie probably destroyed the whole franchise...

From the looks of it, it continues the decline of Paul Feig as well. Which this one might be more surprising, given it is a franchise, and has more marketing force behind it.

Also reasoning for my statement about the decline is (Revenue-Cost), namely since Bridesmaid.
